My Motivation toward Being a Physician Assistant People’s lives are influenced and shaped by different factors. Being born in the society where various illnesses were common made me take numerous journeys to various health centers in my neighborhood. Due to the selfless services I received in the hospitals, I admired being part of the hospital workforce as a way of giving back to the society. Although my visits to hospitals were due to illness, they were of positive effects to my life and have influenced my career choice.

I was particularly motivated to join the medical field by one doctor who always treated me whenever I went to the local hospital. Whenever I reached his office, I always felt that all would be well. He was always very composed and acted calmly and gently as he diagnosed and treated me, something that made me admire him greatly. Apart from the local doctor, the deaths of a few of my relatives from easily treatable ailments strengthened my desire to work in the medical field. My dream of studying a course related to medicine became a reality when I came to United States.

In United States, I took a nursing assistance course with a view of fulfilling my desire to join the medical field with the encouragement of my relatives. I did not, however, perform to my expectations because French is my first language and my command of the English language, which is the main language of instruction and examination in the country, was not so good. I, however, did not give up in my quest to learn and serve the community. I have read widely about medicine generally and engaged in voluntary community health activities back at home.

My craving to give back to the society has prompted me to further my education and become a fully qualified physician assistant. When I measured my ambitions against different jobs in the medical field, I chose Physician Assistant course. This is because it is based on principles which encourage commitment to serving the community, skilful teaching strategies, and lifelong learning. I am committed to continuous learning and improvement and feel that this desire and commitment meshes well with what is demanded of physician assistants.

I will be able to give proper medical attention to people and communities with respect to their present and future healthcare needs once I qualify to become a physician assistant. It will be my joy to offer humanitarian services in the medical field and offer health care services that will help people have better lives.
