Self-Leadership and the One-Minute Manager al affiliation: Self-Leadership and the One-Minute Manager Introduction Self-leadership entails an individual having the right skills and mindset that enable one to gain autonomy, freedom and power to carry on with various practices in life. These skills have been attained by individuals portraying personal responsibility towards various circumstances, which can be explained as self-leadership. This has been found to influence an individual’s life as individuals with self-leadership skills have been found to be creative and innovative, relative to requirements of the society. Leadership practices that have been found to be portrayed by individuals with self-leadership skills include being willing to solve problems. Also, being able to take initiative whenever there is a need. Leadership practices have helped individuals to portray a character of self discipline to enable them to work in various offices as if they owned the business personally (Blanchard, Fowler and Hawkins, 2005). This has enabled progress and increased processes involved in growth and development in various companies. This has also influenced living standards among individuals from diverse communities positively. Therefore, self-leadership should be encouraged in various organizations and departments, which will also help maintain and manage quality of goods and services offered by the organizations. Self-leadership has been found to increase levels of honesty in organization performance. Individuals who have learned how to operate and govern their operations in any department, can help reduce levels of dishonesty and help build a better relationship with the management team of the company (Northouse, 2011, 15) . Individuals should learn new skills in various operations undertaken in departments available in an organization. However, it has been noted that, to learn new and advanced skills in various fields, individuals need to be given the opportunity to explore new jobs and talents within their fields. To have better skills that can be considered as more valuable than those that previously existed, it has been noted that self leadership should be attained within the personality of an individual. In this case, having self drive and attainment helps ensure that an individual get to understand the difference between important skills and knowledge to learn, as well as those that are not considered important in the various operations undertaken in the company (Blanchard, Fowler and Hawkins, 2005, 6). This has been found to influence activities undertaken by individuals in various departments in the organization. The increase in available skills leads to improved standards of goods and services offered by the company. This also leads to increased number of customers in the company. Leadership practices that have been found to be nurtured through self leadership include being a problem solver, taking initiative and increased thinking ability of an individual. This has also been found to be promoted by issues related to increased responsibility in an individual aiming to attain the company’s goals and objectives, which also helps in improving the individual’s living standards (Northouse, 2011, 17). There has been a traditional chain of command relative to leadership, which has been found to transform to a new order. This new order has been found to entail empowerment of individuals in diverse departments in the organization and enabling successful operations in the various tasks undertaken. This has helped various departments attain requirements of individuals in diverse communities, as well as the global market. Leadership skills, therefore, influences personal behavior as well as operation levels in various fields by different individuals. This is regardless of the background and education level of individuals as leadership skills can be attained even at low levels of management (Blanchard, Fowler and Hawkins, 2005, 9). Empowerment programs have been developed by various organizations, to ensure employees in diverse companies attain leadership skills. These skills help in ensuring individuals can run and manage activities undertaken by the company, which include efficiency and effectiveness in operations. Leadership skills have also helped individuals working in diverse organizations attain characters that help in staffing, recruiting, organizing, and training of employees. These leadership skills have been widely known to improve operations related to management in any organization (Northouse, 2011, 20). Management and human resource team of any organization help in decision making as well as implementation which can also be found among individuals who have been trained and understand the leadership skills. Therefore, there should be development of leadership programs to enhance increased number of individuals who can manage the company operations whenever a need arises. This will help improve organization performance and increase efficiency among individuals in diverse departments. This will also enable individuals to learn entrepreneurial skill, which can be found effective in increasing the number of multinational enterprises in the globe (Blanchard, Fowler and Hawkins, 2005, 10). Increase in the number of businesses and leaders in various organizations have been found to increase attainment of requirements of individuals from diverse communities in any nation. This will help increase economic development and economic standards of various nations in the globe. Therefore, measures should be undertaken to ensure leadership skills have been implemented in the organization. This will help nurture employees on how to operate efficiently and effectively in operations undertaken in the company, which will also influence operations undertaken by the company in the world market (Northouse, 2011, 21). Attainment of leadership skills helps companies attain a competitive advantage in the business sector. Therefore, to ensure this is attained successfully, the company has to increase leadership skills, by promoting employees to attend meetings that have been founded at introducing methods of leadership in the organization. Leadership skills have been known to be attained from institutional centers, but research also indicates that leadership skills and knowledge can be attained from training organizations that have implemented schemes of leadership successfully. This clearly illustrates that; the company can attain various goals and objectives from individuals who have not been being trained on leadership skills. This is by ensuring that employees get engaged in institutional operations and trainings (Blanchard, Fowler and Hawkins, 2005, 10). Therefore, employees in diverse departments in any organization should be advised to join leadership training programs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in operations undertaken in the company. This will encourage increase in responsibility and taking of initiative in diverse operations in the company. Conclusion Self-leadership should be encouraged among individuals from diverse organizations and nations. This will be aimed at ensuring there is improved performance in diverse organizations and departments, relative to ensuring the various requirements of individuals from different communities have been attained. Self-leadership has also been found to improve personal development of an individual and this becomes an advantage to the company’s operations and reliability. Self-leadership has been found to increase levels of responsibility among individuals as it helps an individual understand the basic requirements of the company. This has also helped ensure that individuals take the initiative of various operations undertaken in the company, and perform various tasks and own business as if it were their own. This has helped encourage efficiency and effectiveness in operations undertaken in diverse organizations as this helps increase the availability of employees for various tasks to be undertaken in the company. Leadership skills have been developed and nurtured by various processes undertaken in the company by managers, which entails providing seminar classes for individuals on how to become good leaders and innovative, as well as nurture other individuals into leadership. This helps increase efficiency in operations undertaken by employees as there is room for employees to make corrections in case there is a need. However, implementation of leadership strategies should follow the basic rules and regulations of the company, as well as the guidelines of operations in various departments. This will enable the company to attain its primary goals and objectives in the company without having to break the rules of the company. This will also ensure employees in diverse departments in the company work hand in hand with the management team to ensure there is increased number of customers to the company. Recommendations Self-leadership skills should be first advised in various departments and organizations to improve efficiency and effectiveness of operation among employees. This should be strategized keenly by the company managers, who should put incorporate guidelines to ensure there is efficiency of resources and availability of workforce for various operations. There should be introduced classes and seminars for different employees relative to their fields of expertise, to encourage effectiveness in operations. This will also ensure there is increased initiative and thinking, which builds the company and enables growth and development to thrive. Therefore, measures should be implemented by the company managers as well as human resource management team to govern operations related to introducing leadership skills and strategies in the company. This will also help improve standards of living among individuals from diverse communities. The national government should also put in place guidelines that will help various organizations develop schemes. These schemes will help improve operations undertaken by employees in diverse departments. This can be attained by putting in place measures to improve efficiency and effectiveness through leadership skills and availability of resources. Therefore, the government should work closely with the managers and human resource team of various organizations to improve accuracy of operations, which will also influence economic growth and development of the nation.
