According to the case that was to be given a ruling by a jury of six where Jessica was charged with causing harm to her son by heavily punishing her. In her case, the defense force from the anchorage Hot Sauce held the prosecution team to dismiss their evidence in the case. The prosecution is required to give its verdict latest 19 August 2011. From the report, the children's services office submitted its testimonies about this case of child abuse. According to the prosecutor, Franklin Cynthia was convicted that she was playing the famous card of Dr. Phil. The prosecutor insisted that Jessica was using all possible means to evade the case of her son who was troubled.
According to Franklin, he asserted that he did not think to defend Dr. Phil. He explains that the doctor was on his daily duties. He insists that the main reason that drove his conviction was that her case had been aired on the national newswire. On the other hand, Jessica’s defense lawyer William Ingalson rejected the claims that his client had opted to be of national attention by being on television. Despite her wrong choice of disciplinary measures, the act was not a crime.
According to William, any punishment that was not practical could not be implemented as an offense in a court of law. He further advised the jury to be very logical in announcing their sentence than basing their judgments on emotions. He also argued that the punishment that Jessica committed would only become a crime if there were to be any evidence to pin Jessica down that the punishment was a cruel act and she did it to cause harm. Virginia Moring a supervisor in child welfare seconded his sentiments.
In addition, Stephen Mailloux, a psychologist testified that from the results on the boy, he was suffering from disorders such as attachment and posttraumatic disorders. He explained that with these disorders, such victims do not easily show empathy. This in the case becomes a turning point in Jessica’s case.
