This obsession is not solely a subjective perception, but there are several social factors which have contributed in the strife of the modern woman for the attainment of ideal female body (Saltzberg & Chrisler, 2006). This strife includes some health and psychological problems which are significantly affecting women of every age in the contemporary times (Saltzberg & Chrisler, 2006). Low weight and small size of the female body are considered as desirable as idealized by people in contemporary times.

It has been communicated and delivered in the society through several mediums; however, media play the most intrinsic role in communicating this idea (Wertheim, Paxton, Schutz, & Muir, 1997). This paper is aimed to analyze an advertisement which claims to restrict and reduce weight is the female body. It will also present an evaluation of the contemporary society regarding the idealization of the female body as being small in body size. Advertisement The advertisement selected for this paper is of Zantrex-3.

Zantrex-3 is a capsule which reduces body fats in a rapid manner. In this television commercial, a female model is presented as the representation of ideal female body. The model has been presented in an exposed manner with ripped abdomen and low waist. The model is also demonstrating her body as an ideal. The model describes the product which helps females to reduce body fats in a rapid manner. . The representation of low weight and small size female body is intended to develop an obsession among females, especially adolescent females, to acquire the body similar to what has been portrayed in the television commercial (Hobbs, Broder, Pope, & Rowe, 2006).

As the idealization to acquire the body like the female model is developed, the product that the model illuminates is being marketed. This marketing significantly attracts female population to consume the medical product to fulfill the ideal for perfect female body. As the consumption begins, the purpose of product’s advertisement fulfills; however, its side effects begin to harm the health and psychology of consuming females. These problems with the health of women are attributed to the idealization of perfect female body to be petite and low-weighted like models in the magazine cover (Wertheim, Paxton, Schutz, & Muir, 1997).

The advertisement is the representation of society’s idealization of perfect female body which will be briefly discussed in the following heading. Cultural Biases As mentioned above, media play the most significant role in the representation of cultural idealizations. However, this paper precisely deals with the idealization of the female body which is illuminated in the selected advertisement. The female model in the advertisement represents the developed ideal for how a female body should be in size and shape in the American society.

It shows that the female body is preferred to be low-weighted and small in size (Wertheim, Paxton, Schutz, & Muir, 1997). This appreciation is the primary reason for the female obsession to attain low weight and small size body, in order to be liked in the society.
