Robert may be suffering from autism. The parents probably noticed the difference in Robert's behavior, especially as Robert has two sisters who speak for him. The first manifestations of ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) m, ay be discovered at the age of three. Robert seems to have the symptoms which are withdrawal and indifference to social interactions, including avoiding eye contact. Robert demonstrates this manifestation when he is in a room with other children and in the action of taking a toy to a corner and playing by himself. The lack of willingness to speak and the lack of eye contact are symptoms of this disorder. Autism ranges from an intense type to a milder type known as Asperger syndrome (nimh.gov).

Teresa is one of the thousands of children affected by HIV. Every hour, forty-five children who are HIV-positive pass away from the complications of the AIDS virus. The age of children who are HIV positive is generally less than fifteen years of age. Children may become HIV positive through the parents at birth. HIV may also be acquired by breastfeeding from an infected parent. A child such as Teresa is vulnerable to a virus such as HIV. Teresa is faced with an increased risk of illness or death. Thankfully, Teresa has been diagnosed early and is being administered aggressive treatments against the effects of HIV. This treatment increases the chances of Teresa having a longer life. Teresa may not manifest any symptoms at present. A minor cold could be catastrophic for Teresa. The anti-retroviral medications are an important part of Teresa's life. Teresa needs as much emotional support as she can get. HIV carries a lot of stigmas, and Teresa and her parents may suffer discrimination as a result. (Meyer, 2007).

2. Recommendations to Robert's parents are that they should seek to consult with a professional who is a specialist in these disorders. This should be one of the first courses of action for the parents. The Center for Disease Control in Atlanta has discovered that the incidence of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is 3.4 per 1000 children between the ages of three and ten. Robert has demonstrated a disability in his social skills, communication ability, and his limited patterns of behavior (i.e., playing in a corner by himself).
