The environment that surrounds human beings as well as other animals subjects them to certain situations that would call for a variety of responses. Human beings, in particular, are faced by certain challenging situations that would necessitate proper decision making from a logical perspective. This situations are often complex and vary depending on the circumstances that prevail. The solution to a problem or a decision to be made might consist in developing an apposite flashback of the previous encounters.
In this case, the individual’s ability to solve the problem would be determined by his ability to recall and learn from what he had experienced before. This behavior of man and other animals has been in the process of evolution for millions of years. The solution to the given problem could call for a completely different approach from the approaches that had been applied. Here, managing a given situation will depend on the individual’s ability to develop new ideas as warranted by the current circumstances.
The individuals are often required to come to a proper decision through logical reasoning. Similarly, societies involve interaction between different groups of people. Individuals often learn and acquire new knowledge and skills. Some individuals will be slow in learning whereas others might be quick in learning. The approaches that will be applied by man in an attempt to manage these situations could determine his or her intelligence. However, this is not all about intelligence. In fact, the cause of variability that is observed in the human behavior makes the definition of the term one of the challenging tasks in the field of psychology (Wesley, 2006, p.2). In this regard, the concept of intelligence is often considered from different perspectives by the scholars to provide a better insight on the subject.
More precisely, intelligence can be considered as the ability of an individual to learn and understand new concepts, relate the problem at hand to the previous situations, and apply the principles of reasoning in managing different complex situations within their environment. A factor analysis on the human behavior has shown that several factors are responsible for the different human abilities. The primary factors include verbal ability and inductive reasoning among many others whereas the secondary factors include visualization, fluid intelligence, and crystallized intelligence among many others as well (Wesley, 2006, p.5). The fluid and crystallized intelligence have been observed to be important in determining the human ability.
Fluid intelligence has a relation with operations of the impulse transmitters of the brain, and affects the individual’
