Introduction

When most people think of an accountant, they immediately assume that there is only one job that they can accomplish. Although, in reality, the career of being an accountant has a wide range of opportunities for just about anyone willing to put in the hard work it requires. The world of accounting includes opportunities in the banking industry, educational field, possible job opportunities with the government, and most commonly known, assisting individuals around the globe with their tax returns. There are many respectable career choices available to individuals, but personally, accounting is one of the most highly respectable careers out there for many reasons. There is an elevated amount of pressure that could be added to one's life, considering accountants are trusted and responsible for the finances of the client/organization. Climbing up the corporate ladder in this industry is feasible. This paper will discuss my dream major and expose the various obligations, challenges, and opportunities associated with the accounting career.

A trait that is viewed as valuable in an accountant would be confidence in your auditing skills, tax preparation skills, and making sure your up to date, knowledgeable, and aware of current laws and regulations regarding accounting would be the best way to begin gaining the client's trust and respect. Building a client base can be effortless once the client realizes the accountant can be trusted with something as serious as finances and financial well-being. And in no time, an accountant will realize their client portfolio has begun to expand, which may be the first step in establishing a personal accounting firm or accept a job offer to be a part of a widely known, already established firm. In both cases, health benefits, retirement plans, potential bonuses in addition to the annual salary can be earned for either path chosen. The "corporate ladder" in the accounting industry can potentially be one that an individual can continue climbing up until the day of retirement.

Commonly, the accounting profession path commences in school. Currently, learners are taking suitable accounting skills and are leaving school with a four-year college education in accounting. This is the initial step to access effective accounting skills as well as climb the ladder and become a prominent accountant. After school, securing the principal accounting position is a significant errand for an accounting graduate. It is critical to figure out how to improve accounting expertise, as individuals will, in general, flourish in their primary occupation (Baker, 1971). As an accounting student, I would pursue my CPA after working for at least one year to enhance my skills as well as access more qualifications for diverse job opportunities. With the CPA, one can begin assuming greater liability in the board positions and manage to develop to become an office executive. Some have chosen to move to an alternate part of accounting, yet with more experience, remunerations and rewards increase as well as more open doors for progression. Not many individuals achieve CFO and more elevated level positions in the accounting profession.

Performing duties as an accounting imply assuming the liability of helping the proprietor deal with the business's budgetary records. No particular record is allocated for accounting; it is required to have a significant level of data about your boss' budgetary exercises. For conversant with the relevant information, budgetary exchanges should be consistently dealt with to be balance sheet, profits and loss statements, and general ledger account (Donnell, 1951). An accountant’s diagnostic abilities can help figure-out where accounting issues arise in business management. A business can likewise give the accountant proposals on different monetary capacities they wish to attempt. Generally, as an accountant, the employer anticipates that your suggestions should be sound and relevant to various financial decisions.

I have decided to become an accountant because mathematics has always been one of my strongest subjects throughout all my education. It is a skill that I am highly confident in. My ability to retain the knowledge of a wide range of steps, formulas, and rules was also something I was always able to succeed in. As one knows, accounting is not just based on an individual’s mathematical skills but also takes the ability to understand the rules and regulations of the government. Upon graduating high school and realizing I need to decide on what major I would be selecting in college, it was the beginning of the research about accounting. Not too long after researching accounting, my mind was made up for various reasons. A steady career should be important to any adult. “It has been shown that the certified public accountant candidates have received more technical education in their professional field, as well as more academic education” (Donnell, 1951). Accounting is an on-demand industry, which also means job security and a steady source of income. In a world where nothing is certain, accounting is. Another important factor in adulthood is financial security. “He is forced to consider the matter in connection with his review of accounting and his certification of financial statements” (Wildman, 1928). The right job opportunity in the world of accounting has the potential for one to be able to provide a very comfortable lifestyle for themselves and their loved ones. Various jobs in accounting can provide exactly that.

God has always been there from the beginning of time for the entire world. He is the Savior of Life. Because of Him, individuals can do as they please and able to become better people. God is the reason people push themselves to want to be better. When given the opportunity to attend this school, it sets the path for the students here at San Diego Christian College to educate themselves in their selected majors while also having the opportunity to continue studying their faith. With that knowledge, students can incorporate the knowledge of their faith in their day to day life in whatever profession they have chosen, which will benefit people across the world. Since I was in high school at Christian Unified, being able to incorporate the Lord in my education has pushed me to want to do better in school and life. That is why most students who have attended Christian High School have succeeded in their personal lives and their choices in their careers.

When trying to decide on a major, one of the most important aspects of deciding on a future career was a passion for helping people in our society. Accounting gives an endless individual opportunity to give back to others. The book Professional Responsibility of Certified Public Accountant says, "The restatement, according to Cerf, should provide greater recognition of potential problems of conflict relating to independence and the attest function that may arise from providing tax services and management advisory services" (Baker, 1971). This quote shows accountants have been able to solve problems drastically. Nevertheless, the accounting profession is facing inevitable challenges that are associated with current technological developments. At their broadest level, innovation improvement is having across the board sway on society and the economy, which is changing how we deal with our organizations and lives. This implies client requests, work practices, and how organizations run, yet these advances have quite a certain effect on accountants. The presentation of information, examination, and imaginative innovations, such as computerized reasoning, bots, and automation, will give the greatest change in the accounting career since the legislation of the 1933 Securities Act and the 1934 Securities Exchange Act.

Regardless of the conviction that innovation headway is a significant challenge for accountants, it is practically sure that they can give answers for a considerable lot of the career issues and noteworthy development openings. Numerous organizations are searching for new developments, programming, and application answers for mastery, building, and procedure improvement that serve clients better with a more extensive and more profound service (Kaliski & Macmillan, 2001). To put it plainly, organizations utilize innovation to reduce expenses and increment profitability, as opposed to utilizing innovation to improve what buyers need - an innovation that gives dynamic bits of knowledge, examination, and direction (Wildman, 1928). Innovation can change individuals, though it does not supplant the choices and information that it wants to run a certain program. Tech-centered conduct isolates the present incredible business accounting customer-driven propensities. As people of faith know, He gave up his son Jesus Christ, and Jesus died for our sins. When an individual of faith decides on a career, they normally think of ways that will benefit. Helping people is something one should naturally want to do in their everyday life out of the goodness of their heart, and if everybody could perform one good deed daily, the world would be a better place. Accounting gives you daily opportunities to perform a good deed for not one, but multiple individuals are seeking help with the financial part of their lives. With God's guidance and grace, an accountant will have the ability to help others, give back to their community, and do good in the world of finances.

In conclusion, the choice that has been made to begin the path of becoming an accountant has been one that has been years in the making. There is an opportunity to live a rewarding, successful, and comfortable life with this career path, but it is a very stable job. It can be a legacy that is left behind for generations to come, and for a person who lives life by their faith, family comes in second place for things that are considered most important. Without the grace and strength of God, this would not have been something one can decide easily. It takes a tremendous amount of faith and trust in the Lord to be able to accept this path chosen. Along with being a God-fearing individual and an individual who greatly believes in their faith, it only feels right to feel the need to help others by any means necessary. With accounting as a career choice, one of your top priorities is to do whatever it takes to help the client. When a client selects an individual to be their accountant, they already have put forth their trust in making sure their finances are in great hands. That responsibility is not one to be taken lightly, especially in the faith of God.
