It also helps to nurture and develop one’s skill. In the initial assessments of skills, I have identified a number of capabilities such as communication, team work, problem solving, self management, planning and organizing, initiative and enterprise, abilities to build positive relationships in life and work, locate and use information effectively to aid personal career development and make career enhancing decisions. This section will offer the progress report which will be only limited to the first three capabilities. The first three capabilities are communication, team work and problem solving. Hence the identification and evaluation process will be confined to these segments only. In the first segment, I have tried to enhance my communication skills, skills required for successful team work and also expertise required for solving various problems. Now in order to develop the aforementioned factors, I believe that elements such as listening & understanding, clear speaking and sharing information, working across different ages, identification of the strengths of the team members and offering creative and innovative solutions for various problems are important as well as essential. I have developed the skills mainly by following my teachers and the persons whom I admire. Apart from those, specialized trainings also facilitated learning for me and enhanced my skills. Moreover, feedback from the tutors has helped to serve the purpose. I also feel that my communication skills, problem solving skills and team work skills have indeed developed. In order to cite an example, a few months back, when I took admission for the masters, I used to feel the nervousness when events such as individual presentations took place. However these days I feel confident and do not undergo any kind of nervousness. A few days back I was to give a presentation on ‘stakeholder’s role on developing a brand value’ and did not sense any nervousness within myself. This demonstrates that my communication skills have developed. As an example of successful team work I will share my experience about the market survey project. I was in a group of 5 people where there were students from USA, Australia and also from Asia. I get along with them very well, irrespective of the cultural differences and we worked as a team and formulated a successful project report. Finally regarding my skills as a problem solver, I have been praised by my friends a number of times. Recently, there was an incident that took place where our college assigned us a project of market survey, which requires substantial amount of money. Being students we could not afford to spend a significant sum of money, still we had to complete the assignments for securing good grades. I took the matter to the higher authority and they provided us the money required to conduct the project. This is how I solved the problem. However I also feel development is a continuous process and it should run as a chain. In future I would like to develop these skills by applying them in professional fields. In the aforementioned categories I believe my communication needs further development in the form of establishing and using networks, independent reading and writing exactly according to the requirement of the topic. Furthermore to enhance my skills I need to interact with the teachers frequently. Hence on the basis of the skills and expertise, I intend to become a successful businessman in the near future. I believe that using communication skill, I can interact efficiently with my clients and employees. This will also help me in the long run. Also my problem solving skills will hugely assist me in the process of commencing a new venture. I might have to face a number of issues and can overcome those by expertise of problem solving. It is also important to work with a team for achieving success in the market place. Thus the skills related to team work will also help me attain my intended goal of becoming a successful businessman. Action Plan An action plan can be defined as a set of instructions which are used to accomplish specific goals (Cambridge Dictionaries Online, n.d.). An action plan mainly consists of 3 major constituents namely tasks, time horizon and allocation of resources. It gives an outline about the set of principles which help to deal with the area of concern (Osce, n.d.). Task in an action plan is about what is to be done and who will be responsible for accomplishing the task. Time horizon is about when the task will be accomplished. Finally resource allocation takes into account the funds required or available for a particular task. An action plan is the basis towards the achievement of the intended objective. Furthermore it presents a detailed schedule of the required activities which also plays an essential role in the attainment of goals (Bottomlessclosetnyc, 2009, p.11). However in the context of the project, an action plan will be formulated in order to draw a pathway for achieving the desired objectives. The action plan will mainly focus on the short term plan that in turn will help to attain the long term objectives. Hence the action plan is of utmost importance. Currently I am in Australia, where I am undergoing my masters. I have always wanted to be a successful businessman and earn lots of money. After becoming a successful businessman I want to help the poor people and also want to work for the betterment of the society. However I feel doing business in Australia and becoming successful is a complex task. The Australian business market is highly saturated. Also huge investments and other resources are required to setup a business in Australia (The World Bank, 2012, p.5-10). Apart from that there are also other constraints from my side. Hence I intend to become a successful business person in some other country. After comprehensively researching the business environment of various countries, I found Indonesia as the most suitable market for doing business. Hence in the near future I aim to become a successful businessman in Indonesia. After getting established in Indonesian market, I also propose to reach the elite position on the list of most successful business persons of Indonesia. The timeline I set for myself is 10 years. Prior to everything I need to choose the type of business I will be doing. With the help of experienced businessmen, market researchers and internet I propose to commence a business of manufacturing and selling water bottles. Since the investments are low as compared to a product like electronic gadgets, I preferred bottles to be more cost effective and less uncertain products. Nonetheless, it is the initiation point for me as a businessman, but as soon as I succeed in capturing considerable market share and investors, I will diversify my business to other sectors as well. Therefore in order to reach that position, I need to plan short term goals which in turn will take me to the desired objective. Also I need to look after the required skills and resources for the purpose of commencing a new venture in the Indonesian market. Moreover in order to attain every short term objective, I need to formulate an action or activity. The objectives and required actions are provided below in a tabular format. Also investigations about the cost of productions and the way others do marketing. 6 months Consumer Analysis Comprehensive analysis of the potential consumers. 2 months Investigation on Marketing opportunities Analysis on possible ways of marketing and distribution of products. Also mode of operation to be finalized in this step i.e. whether to operate with the distributors, franchisee or direct store operations. 4 months Infrastructure development Development of factory and arranging machineries required for the purpose of production. 18 months Recruitment, Training and Development In this section recruitment of the personnel will take place. Several experienced members will be recruited so that they provide adequate training to the new recruits. 6 months Commencement of fully fledged operation Activities such as production, marketing, selling and other activities will take place. 42 months Opportunities for further diversification As the product gets established, possible diversification will be considered. For example moving to other sectors is an option. 6 months Diversification Commencing business in some other sector in a large scale venture.
