Lecturer: International politics In the study of political science, international politics is a concept that looks at how countries outdo each other on political matters. During the period of cold world war (1945), there used to be some order that controlled the policy making of nations. There used to be organized politics that prevailed internationally (D’Anieri25). The study of international politics is said to have begun during the Greek period, where the first analysis of the politics was made. In my essay, I will discuss how the current international politics has changed and how the world looks today. In the local society, the way the international politics determine whose needs are being served by how the international system operates. The analysis of change in international politics must put into consideration the actual systems. This would help in the development of an own goal. .In each system, there are some continuous political activities, that may bring benefits or no benefits to different actors in the international system (Gilpin13).These benefits are important for their account. The adjustments occur within the system (international) bringing about a state of balance. In the process, the difference in the development of power in nations causes a division of power in the international system. The idea of power is the most problematic when it comes to matters of relations internationally (Gilpin13).We find that in the current study of international politics, there are several people with different authorities. These people tend to represent their interests or those of their states. For example, a politician has a personal goal that he or she needs to achieve. This is to maintain himself in the office.Groups that holds so much power in a society may tend to dictate the actions and activities of the heads of their society (Gilpin 16).The simple function of a nation is to defend the property rights of its people and also their security. It’s obvious that there are other groups that seek for the same power. This is where we happen to find groups such as the feudal fiefdoms and guerrilla bands that rebel certain authorities in their society (Dahrendorf 290).The concern of the state is usually where its territories are. As long as it’s within the territories of the state, it practices the use of force with the assumption that everyone within the boundaries is subjected to certain similar rules. This means that the state itself has more power to any other group that is conflicting for power in the same state. The state, therefore, does not answer to any other power greater than theirs internationally. Where the nation is to defend the rights of its citizens, without any other greater authority, and then it must consider other nations as potential threats (Gilpin 18).The states are seen as the main participants in their political actions, whereby their political organizations have differed xo much. That is into tribes, counties, city states, and many others subdivided parts of the start that have their different heads or authorities. The success of a nation in the past was caused by events that can only be of the past. Obviously it’s so straight forward that it’s not a must that the conditions will continue in the near future. According to Brian Barry (5) the decision of political goals are a coalition procedure. The goals and rules of nations are set by the needs of their citizens or the ruling parties. The classics argue that the security of a country and its power have been there before and will still be in the primary interests of the country. This assumption does not show the decision-making steps of the state (Gilpin 20). Political specialists are not wrong by saying that security is the main goal in that if not met all others remain hanging. Hence, for security to be implemented in a society, and then it involves sacrifices by the members of the state of other objectives that they may need. Although most political leaders take advantage of such situations in order to meet their greedy interests. Due to the division of power and wealth in a given state that is within an international system tend to pressure a nation to seek for bigger security interests (Gilpin 23).This means that a shift in the cost of the interests dealt with by a nation so as to meet the interest of the state lead to inducement in the behavior of that given state. In the context where small groups tend to gain or fight for power due to poor politics in that given state, mass violence may be the outcome due to poor security. There is a fact that the biggest threats to securities of many nations does not come from other states but from the small rebelling groups that arise from politics. This represents a relatively high change in the international security (D’Anieri 6).Issues such as terrorism and some other emerging issues have left questions in the minds of people about how the politics are and how they will be in future. The questions seem to explain the next couple of years of international politics. The effect of these questions will not only be in the lives of those who are interested in the global matters but to also those who don’t (D’Anieri 7). These politics have not been clear neither have they been certain nor predictable by those involved mainly the citizens. In the current international politics, we tend to ask ourselves about the sources of terrorism for example. It has mostly been seen as a religious cause, but not all religious people participate in the act. Others blame it on poverty, but there is no explanation as to why a certain group entertains terrorism while another group doesn’t (D’Anieri 8). As far as governments may be concerned, answers to these questions would mostly be based on deterioration of security due to the current politics. We have also seen various meetings being held in international politics. These meetings point on various ways to stop war but none of those in power tell people that war is bad and educate those that they lead on the importance of peace. A state should have some objectives that guide them to the achievement of international politics goals such as security. .First is to increase their involvement on the activities of other states. The state should also try to gain control over how other participants in the international systems go by their activities. To some level, we find that the states that are disadvantaged in an international system tend to follow the leadership of the most powerful states just because they feel that they are inferior to those other states. This is mainly due to the states poor international politics compared to that of the other state (Gilpin 29). The gap at the level of politics of different states brings about the prestige that is a pride of power mainly military power. This prestige arises when other states perceive a state’s ability and willingness to exercise its power. This prestige is usually an important factor that puts states into conflict due to the distribution of power hence explaining international politics better (Gilpin 31).Through some explanation of political change, how things happened politically in the past and how they happen in modern days, brings up an issue of how the social systems have transformed and brought about violence and insecurity in the society. Changes in international politics tend to be a continuous process in the society. This is as a result of the several changes that occur in international societies on the distribution of power of groups and the nations themselves.They need to be adjusted in the running of the states either with the awareness of the people in the state or favor those in power only. The change in the politics takes place as a way of minimal engagements when it comes to international interactions (Gilpin 34). In conclusion, we have seen in the essay that international politics has rapidly changed with time. From the days when there was enough security to the modern days where terrorism has become a big threat to almost all the states just because of changes in the international systems and politics. In the next five years, if the current trend of change in politics continues this way then the international system will be in a very bad state of power and wealth redistribution.
