Extract of sample "Movie Review: Seven Pounds by Gabriele Muccino"

Two years ago, the protagonist of the movie Seven Pounds Tim Thomas (Will Smith) became the reason for a terrible car accident, which killed seven people, including his lover, Sarah Jenson (Robin Li). While driving the car, he was distracted from the road for a few seconds to send an SMS, and the result was a tragedy. The fact that Tim stayed alive was his personal hell: each day he was recalling the incident, being tormented by the guilt. However, one day Tim found a way that could help him get redemption.

In memory of those who died as a result of the accident, he decided to select seven people who are in need of assistance. Though he was a talented aircraft engineer, he left a promising job and devoted all his time to extending the life of people who are on the verge of death. Tim became an organ donor by sacrificing one or another part of his body. The movie colorfully describes the condition of the people staying at the border of life and death and realizing that they might die. Death is shown as a phenomenon full of cruelty to life.

Nobody wants to die, even knowing that human life is finite. The movie clearly shows this. Death is presented as something that should be avoided since life is a priceless gift that every person, regardless of his/her social status, should cherish. In general, the movie is of particular interest in view of the fact that it makes one reflect upon the value of life as well as the value of each day people live.
