Extract of sample "Harsh Conditions of Sweatshop Employees Work"

Most sweatshop employees are working in incredibly harsh conditions and suffer a great deal.  Surprisingly, this is even a problem for staff in North America, because all of the jobs go to employees in sweatshops since they get paid barely anything to work.  The manufacturers of these products are perfectly satisfied with providing incredibly low wages because it is not against the law to make deals like this.  The employees are suffering while the manufacturers are extremely wealthy. 

          The press is constantly describing the troubles that sweatshops cause for their employees.  As mentioned, the conditions are incredibly harsh and no Canadian or American worker would survive in those conditions.  Some Mexicans even try crossing deserts in order to escape the rule of the sweatshop employer. 

          Some of the measures that can be done to prevent people from working in sweatshops are to create North American ideas to consumers about avoiding buying products from those labels.  If Nike does not sell anything, it can no longer function and would have to close down.  Unfortunately, this is not a realistic goal because a lot of people buy Nike regardless of the fact that there are sweatshop workers who are suffering to create the product.  If there was a way to stop consumers from buying Nike in a large substantial way, this could happen.  Another effort to reduce the problem with sweatshop labor is to create businesses ourselves in the country so that we can provide at least a little bit more money to the workers. This would be challenging unless we had a giant corporation to provide jobs in those countries and we educated them to pay more to their employees.  We could also use forums like Facebook and get petitions signed, but the numbers would have to be many in order for something to be done and to get results.  Another measure that can be taken is to get students in a university or college to start a movement or get people from anywhere to begin a movement that would allow people to complain in large numbers so the corporations would actually stop hiring in this way.
