Healing Hospital and Spirituality Healing Hospital and Spirituality Hospitals have contribute a significant role in the healing of varied diseases. The benefit of healing environments in hospitals is vastly researched concept and justified by results of diverse studies. Currently, health care institutions strive to incorporate features of healing environments as emphasized by Zborowsky and Kreitzer (2008). They include features intended to reduce stress among patients to promote faster healing process.

Most healing traditions and through healing generations suggest that engagement with the spiritual dimensions of life has been an essential component of health. Today, most hospitals promote medical healing and spiritual nourishment in the treatment of patients. The primary concern of this paper is to outline the relationship between components of a healing hospital and spirituality. The paper will also major on the biblical aspects supporting a healing hospital and the challenges faced in creating a healing environment.

Setting up a healing hospital goes beyond the physical structure of the institution. Remarkably, modern healing facilities focus on key components relating to spirituality in the process of providing quality healthcare. A healing physical health care setting focuses on constructing an environment that helps patients and kins cope with the pressures of sickness. That is attainable by ensuring the patients’ connection to nature through customization of physical and built structural features (Huisman et al., 2012). A healing physical environment is quiet to allow patients to have sound and uninterrupted sleep, for instance.

The body performs most healing when the patients are asleep. Because of that, the component ensures that noise is reduced to the lowest levels by fitting silencers (Seifert & Hickman, 2005). Facilities such as cleaning machines should not generate noise to the surrounding environment. Quiet environments allow patients to engage in spiritual practices like meditation and prayer. These practices foster social support to the patient reduce anxiety, depression and encourage relaxation that is essential for the patient’s recovery.

Integration of a work design and technology is a key component of a healing health institution. A majority of modern health centers have single rooms that give patients privacy when in prayer sessions. Technological advanced equipment such as sky-light system provide in-room entertainment allowing patients tune to spiritual songs and watch healing programs that are significant for their recovery. A number of hospitals have embraced the culture of loving care. The philosophy of loving care reminds health practitioners of reasons for venturing into the sector.

It promotes spiritual healing through a holistic approach of employing health workers who can display passion and sincere dedication to help patients through the healing process. The philosophy notifies the health care providers that every encounter with a patient is a sacred one. The component ensures that health employees have high levels of delivering loving care and engaging the patients in a sacred manner that is significant for both their spiritual and physical health. Healing hospitals are known to have successful results for both employee and patient satisfaction.

Nevertheless, there are challenges that these hospitals face concerning establishment and growth. A major problem encountered by these hospitals is the large turnout of patients who need their services. Furthermore, setting a healing environment increases the cost of healthcare for patients, some of them who are already finically constrained. The rising cost in terms of service delivery is a challenge provided the high cost of other services. The Holy Bible has an enormous role in the healing hospitals by enhancing spirituality.

Authors in the Bible quoted verses that support the concepts of a healing hospital. Moses, in the book Leviticus 19:31 (King James Version), urges patients only to seek the Lord in the healing of their diseases for the spirits and witches will defile them. In the New Testament Jesus is depicted as the greatest physician because of his passionate concern for the well-being of believers (Mark 8:2). Psalms documents how the Lord sent his words to his people that healed them in their time of distress (Psalms 107:19-21).

According to Exodus 23:25, worshipping the Lord takes away sickness. ReferencesZborowsky, T., & Kreitzer, M. J. (2008). Creating optimal healing environments in a health care setting.
