Healing Hospital: A Daring Paradigm - Essay Example

A successful result of a healing process within the healing hospital paradigm cannot be achieved when the process puts emphasis on one aspect of the individual and ignores the other aspects because all the aspects complement each other in treatment (Samueli Institute, 2010). This paper will describe the components healing hospitals and their association to spirituality and discuss the problems experienced in building a healing environment in light of the barriers and complexities of the hospital environment.

It will also include a biblical passage that supports the concept of a healing hospital and provide a rationale for selecting the passage. Three components of the healing hospital paradigm include a culture of loving care, an integrated work design, technology, and a healing physical environment. With respect to the culture of loving care, the healing hospital model puts emphasis on the comfort of the place where the patient is put. This component is developed through concern and love especially when caring for the patient and also in the setting where the patient is placed when receiving the treatment or intervention.

Therefore, the patient should feel the concern and love of the caregivers and his or her family or guardians. In this model, there is the combination of the medical intervention procedures as well as the manipulation of the setting to meet the needs of the patients and surpass them by touching on other needs such as satisfaction. This means that the patient’s relatives, guardians or friends, spiritual leaders or family must be included in the intervention (Dugan, et.al, 2011). The model relies on the idea that spiritual and emotional welfare contributes to the physical welfare of the patient by ensuring that the patient gets in the right atmosphere and mood to achieve physical wellness.
