rses have to face significant challenges while extending maximum care to the patients of leg ulcers because these patients undergo severe mental trauma apart from the physical wounds and stress. Additionally there is high risk of contact allergies among these patients and hence they must be treated very carefully (Smart, et. al., 2008). In order to meet these challenges nurses are required to have strong understanding of various concepts associated with leg ulcers. Moreover, they should be given training under the supervision of senior physicians prior to attending serious patients (Wound Care Training, 2013).
International practice and research indicates that strongly integrated nursing services can actually reduce the adverse effects of leg ulcers (Harrison, et. al., 2005). Furthermore the use of compression technology has also proved significantly beneficial for the overall treatment of these patients (Harrison, et. al., 2011).
