Objective and Evidence of Accomplishment: Improving HCAHPS scores was the objective that was targeted. The evidence of accomplishment was the submittal of a complete evaluation conducted in conjunction with both patients and care providers—which would serve as the underpinnings for any new hospital guidelines that would be instituted by the hospital’s key officials.
Reflective Learning: It was important to be able to devise a strategy in order to comprehensively evaluate how HCAHPS scores could be improved. Thankfully, staff at the hospital—as well as patients—were given surveys with regard to the quality of care given at the hospital. Upon having received all of the data, it was necessary for head officials at the hospital to adjourn and discuss the results—in order to see if the scores on the assessment could be improved at all. The outcome of such a wonderful reflection is a hospital system that works better for all involved—both patients and care providers.
Brief Summary of Activity: Conducted by varying individuals, surveys were given not only to the patients but to the staff as well in order to take a comprehensive overview in the hopes that this information could be used to overhaul the hospital’s overall performance. This would cover a wide range of areas and thus help the hospital’s management be smoother and more effective, rendering changes made by hospital officials—in the form of recommendations, garnered by the study. Thus, quality of care, food service, and wait times were to be improved upon based on the surveys, and consequentially the score on the HCAHPS.
