Keeping track of employee healthcare, providing them with better working environment and maintaining a check on the problems of their health and hygiene are all the things which a professional workplace provides. All these factors also account for the managing of a healthier labor force in the organizations. Keeping such sophisticated needs of time in view; this essay will discuss the role and the significant part which is played by the professional nursing organizations in maintaining a healthy workplace. Professional Nursing Organizational The concept of professional nursing organizations outlines such healthcare places where licensed and registered nurses join for the purpose of providing and improved and higher quality healthcare services to the people. These organizations also provide them the chance of learning, networking, and enjoying the peer recognition by becoming an active member. They are facilitated with the updated knowledge, latest nursing laws and legislations, sophisticated nursing procedures and other information regarding healthcare. Healthy workplace The workplace imposes vital affects on the well-being and health of people in an organization. Therefore, if it is poorly managed, there can be serious risks of high degree of sickness and problems of ill health related to work. Thus, a healthy workplace refers to healthy well being of the employees, and along with it, a healthy leadership, positive reinforcements, and the implementation of successful planning and controlling functions in the organization. Role of Professional Nursing Organizations in maintaining a healthy workplace In the course of maintaining a healthy workplace, the role played by registered nurses and the professional nursing organization carries great importance. This is because there is an obvious reason that the nurses and other health practitioners contribute largely towards maintain the healthy physical and working environment in the organization. The professional organizations, with the help of their licensed nurses, contribute largely to the improved conditions of workplace and employees, their sustainable developments, and increasing sustainability through addressing all those factors which are related to the well-being and health of the population. They do this by decreasing the ill-health trends and reducing the healthcare costs. There are many roles, which the nurses play in order to maintain the health management of the workplace. These roles include the nurses in the form of advisors, managers, researchers, clinicians, coordinators and managers. There are licensed as well as the occupational health nurses, who possess an independent role and through this, they take an advantage of listening to patients and employees, gathering the relevant information and data, and discussing matters regarding the health and well-being of the employees from the management and staff of organization. The unique characteristic of the professional nursing organizations include the readily availability of nurses and their capability to tackle all the healthcare issues. The various services through which the professional nursing organizations play their role in maintaining a healthy workplace include: Primary prevention The professional nursing organization facilitates its employees with the knowledge regarding the primary prevention of disease or injury. Through this methods, the professional nurses perform the identification, assessment and planning for the interventions for the purpose of modifying and improving the methods or processes of working, the work environment or the practice in order to reduce the chances of risks and hazards. They even take into account the elements of human behavior, choice of equipments, prevention of diseases and injuries, and the changes in work environment for the purpose of performing primary interventions. Emergency care In order to manage a healthy workplace, the professional nursing organization also manages to provide the superior quality emergency care to its workers and employees. The nurses with proficiency and expertise in the nursing and clinical jobs tackle the injured and ill people. They provide extraordinary care and critical emergency services to the patients in the organizations. A great deal of clinical experience and expertise is required in dealing with sick or injured people. The occupational nurses are even deployed at hazardous places such as oil rigs, mines, and other isolated region including desserts where the people do not have easy access to the medical and healthcare services (WHO, 2001). Treatment services In many countries, the professional nursing organizations provide special treatment services to the employees in an organization. The expert and skilled nurses and physicians provide special treatment services to the working population so that they can stay healthy and, ultimately, more motivated for their jobs. Nursing diagnosis The nursing associations and organization play a major role in contributing towards the assessment of employees’ care needs, and formulate ultimate healthcare plans for them. They execute and appraise the interventions which they had previously designed in order to accomplish the patient care objectives. At the workplaces, the nurses also analyze and interpret the needs of the employee groups and plan and implement well-established strategies to achieve their health care goals. Through the utilization of sophisticated nursing methods, the nurses contribute in the form of a direct and positive role towards the workplace health management and aim at striving for the betterment and improvement of the working population. Individual and group care plan The nurses in a professional nursing organization generally act on the level of an organization, nation or community. They facilitate the patients with the suitable informed consents and establish an entire liaison network with them in order to ensure that a properly designed and comprehensive health strategy and approach has been designed to meet their health objectives. General Health advice and health assessment The nurses at the professional and proficient level aim to maintain the health issues at the workplace. They provide a wide range of advices, alternatives, preventions and precautions to the employees working at organizations, irrespective of their risk approach. Occupational health assessment One of the major contributions that the professional and occupational nurses provide to the workers include health assessment for the employees to stay fit at work, and this is done through conducting their periodic health examinations, and individual health assessments. In order to maintain the transparency, fairness and reliability of the treatments, the collaboration with the physicians is done and this also relies heavily upon the accepted practices, law and legislations of the nursing. Health surveillance In case of the exposure of workers towards the residual risk of health surveillance and exposure, the professional nursing organizations is required to instruct its nurses to perform routine health surveillance of the employees and patients in an organization. The occupational nurses undertake to perform the surveillance procedures, the regular health checkups of employees and the screening processes in order to create and maintain a stable and healthy work environment in the companies. The nurses undertake all such critical activities possess high level qualifications and are degreed along with a much higher level of alertness in order to detect and treat the abnormal findings in the patients. Maintenance of work ability The professional nursing organizations play a major role in the development of proactive strategies in the organizations which would assist the workers and the entire human resource base to restore and maintain their abilities and capabilities of performing the jobs. The benefit programs are introduced by these nursing associations to help all the older workers, new workers, women in pregnancy and those returning from pregnancy and also those workers who had stayed unemployed for a very long time. At the organizational level, these nurses tend to advise the management and workers regarding strategies and techniques to keep themselves fit so that they can improve their psycho-social lives. Besides all the above mentioned strategies, and services, there are many other services that the professional nursing organizations offer the employees at various organizations in order to enable them to keep fit. These strategies include identifying hazards, risk assessment practices, workplace health management, promotion and counseling on health care matters. Conclusion The essay deals with the subject of the analysis of the role of professional nursing organizations in maintaining the healthcare at the workplaces. In this context, the professional, licensed nurses play a major role in making the workplace effective and its employees efficient. The strategies such as health surveillance, periodic medical checkups, counseling, healthy assessments and screenings, and many other individual and group plans are implemented in order to contribute towards the organization’s effectiveness.
