Full My Life Goals Dreams come true to those who set their goals and plan their s. No one simply sits around and have his dreams realized rather, goals are achieved through careful planning and exercising the plans. This truth is very evident in the life of John Goddard who, at the tender age of 15, wrote 127 goals he wanted to achieve and made it a challenge to himself to accomplish regardless of the obstacles. Goal-setting does not end in just having a dream, though. It requires a person to consider his interests and talents and more importantly, to write the goals. There is something strongly helpful in writing one’s goals. It does not simply help an individual to remember his goals but it also aids in his focus towards his visions. Having pointed that out, it is my desire to do the same, to write my life goals, understanding as Goddard did, that I have also my limitations which can only be minimized by focusing on the goals that I set for myself. As Goddard said, “I set up a blueprint of goals so that I would always have something to work for” (22). Due to the limitation of space, I will discuss only four of my most important goals which include my aim to get into the soccer team this year, travel all of the 50 states of America, complete my college education in two years instead of three and to establish my own business company that I will expand to other countries. One of my passions is sports and so it would really be a good thing if I can become a part of the soccer team in school this year. Team sport does not simply help me physically but also mentally and socially. Therefore, I plan to stay fit and competitive in the field of soccer so I would be able to achieve this goal. I will exercise at least two hours a day, concentrating more on improving my agility and endurance because I believe these are important qualities for a soccer player. Of course it is also a part of my duty to have good grades so that I will not be disqualified due to academic incompetence. Thus, I need to concentrate also in my studies, submit all necessary requirements on time and read a lot. As I continue to exercise my brain and body, I will enlist in the soccer team and practice well with the team to ensure my entry. I plan not to miss any practices because I believe that every meeting is important and there are always new things or insights that I could learn from the coach and the other players. Since I have other goals in mind, I want to achieve this goal this year. As a student of Business Administration, my eyes are set on travels because I know this is an important aspect of the business world. I want to travel all the 50 states of America within the next five years because I want to discover potential products that can be produced for the market. Moreover, the travels will also teach me a lot about different cultures and personalities which will be beneficial for me as a person and a businessman. Therefore, during my college life, I want to visit at least three to five states each year and after college, I want to increase the number so that I can complete my goal within the set time. With this in mind, I am doing my best to save for such travels. In addition, I am also learning important things about each state that may be interesting, educational and informative by reading books and magazines. I want to gather as much information about other places and cultures so that when I visit them, I will be able to maximize my time visiting the places I believe will enhance my qualities as a person and a businessman. Of course the travels will not only be for my benefit as a businessman but it will also be a part of fun and learning. Since it is my goal to complete my travels around the 50 states of America in five years, I find it necessary for me to finish my studies within the shortest time possible. Normally, it would take students to complete Business Administration in three years. However, I want to finish my course in just two years so I can achieve other goals on my list. Goddard says that the way to approach life is “in small increments, cramming then with as much activity, learning, love and friendship as possible”. I strongly agree with such philosophy therefore, it is my desire to shorten the time for my studies since there are so many things I need to cram into my days of activities. I want to enroll as many subjects I can possibly handle every semester and during summer. Consequently, I should compel myself to study well so that I will pass all my subjects and not waste time repeating the same class for another semester. Also, when I pass all my grades, travelling will have another meaning for me as a reward for all the hard work I invested on my studies. When I graduate, the gift I will give to myself will be five more states to visit within the year. Lastly, I want to establish my own company within five years and to expand to other countries in ten years. This may seem impossible for a young businessman but just as Goddard said, “Goal setting is like that. Some may be beyond your capabilities, but that doesn’t mean you have to give up the whole dream” (24). I have always wanted to help other people, especially the poor and the way that I see myself doing this is supporting schools in third world countries. This vision needs a lot of money and the only legal way for me to accumulate the necessary funds is through business. Therefore, I want to build my own company so that I will be able to earn as much as I need not only for my personal necessities but also for my projects. I want to expand my company in other rich countries so I can easily grow the necessary funds I want to raise to help other people by giving the less-fortunate the opportunity to study and improve their economic status. The world offers a lot of opportunities for every individual and many people, including Goddard, proved that success does not come to those who idly wait. Rather, it meets the people who hustle and bustle after planning their courses. Some of my goals are easily achievable but I also set some difficult ones to challenge myself to discover how far I could run the race of this fast-paced, business-centered world we now live in. Nevertheless, I believe that it is not the easiness or difficulty of a goal that makes a person succeed but, it is the ability of a person to work out and stay focused on the visions he set for himself to accomplish. Thus, I look forward to busy and challenging years and so I prepare myself for the great task ahead by accomplishing the small tasks I face each day. MY LIFE GOALS: DEADLINE 1. BECOME A SOCCER PLAYER 2015 2. TRAVEL ALL 50 STATES OF AMERICA 2019 3. FINISH COLLEGE IN TWO YEARS 2016 4. ESTABLISH OWN COMPANY 2019 Read More
