9.8 grams of Ferrous Ammonium sulphate was carefully weighed and transferred to a volumetric flask. 150 milliliters of Sulphuric Acid was added to prevent hydrolysis and the mixture was stirred until the solid dissolved completely. The volume was made up to the mark with de-ionized water. 25 milliliters of the solution was removed from the flask with a pipette and titrated with the KMno4 solution until the first appearance of permanent pink colour. At the endpoint all of the Fe2+ has been used up (reacted) and the purple permanganate is no longer converted to colourless Mn+2 so the pink colour remains and the reaction solution will have a permanent pink tinge to it (Web, Undated). A second titration was performed to substantiate data for analysis and reduce scope for error.
The strength of the unknown Potassium permanganate solution in this reaction is calculated by titrating it a known molar solution of Ferrous Ammonium sulphate which provides us with the molarity of the KMnO4 solution.
This experiment proves that when molar composition of one chemical compound is known, and we can have a physical end point in a redox reaction with visible colour change, we can standardize the strength of an unknown compound by using the technique of volumetric ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

Iron Ore

...? Iron Ore & Iron Ore Introduction Iron ore often are minerals or sometimes rocks from which the extraction of metallic iron is carried out. These ores normally are rich in iron oxides and have a variety of colors. These colors range from bright yellow, grey, deep purple or sometimes rusty red. This iron is in the form of hematite, limonite, magnetite and siderite. Natural ores are usually ores carrying extremely high quantities of hematite or sometimes magnetite. The main reason for this is its usability in blast furnaces making iron. However, most of the reserves that harbor such natural ores have now been depleted. Pig...

Hardware and Software Standardisation

...15 February Hardware and Software Standardisation (I) Introduction This paper explores the benefits ofstandardising hardware and software across a network of computers both from technical and business points of view. Stanardisation refers to the act of replacing multiple hardware and software platforms in a network or a data center with a single hardware platform and a unified set of software applications. (II) Benefits of Standardisation There are many benefits that organizations can gain through standardisation. Ease of administration, reduced costs, end user convenience and overall network stability are the main benefits. (Schweitzer) Network administration can...

Velocity 3 - Part II

...VELO 3 - PART II Response to KENDRA MOODY Hi, as thorough as your presentation is, I still believe that there are a number of insights I can offer to what you have already indicated in your paper. Indeed, it is important that you noted the place of interrelatedness in the quest to achieving efficiency when you admitted that throughput leads to increase in money, and management of constraint leads to throughput (Jacob, Bergland & Cox, 2010). As much as this position is acceptable, my insight is that approaching efficiency through interrelatedness should be done with much caution and only after the management is convinced that it has what it takes to trend such lines. This is because I have had a personal...

..., and abdominal pain, loss of body hair, fatigue, heart problems, and joint problems Transferrin Saturation Test: It measures the iron-binding capacity. It is not a commonly used method because it requires immunologic measurement, a costly and time-consuming procedure that most clinical laboratories cannot afford. Transferrin saturation tests with values greater than 60% alarms of iron overload while those between 45% and 60% indicates borderline elevation. The other iron biochemical tests include serum iron (SI), unsaturated iron-binding capacity (UIBC), and total iron-binding capacity (TIBC) tests Safety Potential...

...Potassium Introduction Potassium is a crucial element in the body that is responsible for both cellular and electrical function. The blood serum contains between 3.5 and 5 mg of potassium in every 100 ml. The body potassium is derived from dietary sources, with the element well absorbed from the intestines. Excess potassium in the body is eliminated through urine while others are still eliminated via sweating. Adrenal hormone is responsible for the stimulation actions for elimination of potassium from the body; however, coffee, sugar, alcohol and diuretics can contribute to low levels of potassium (Alderman et al., 2012). Hyperkalemia and hypokalemia Hyperkalemia is the increased serum levels of potassium in excess of 5mg/100 ml... ....
