With proper knowledge of the existing laws, managers like me will know that Fatima and the group of Christian employees’ request to claim their rights of practicing their faiths as a Moslem and as Christians, respectively, is not uncommon; obviously, the population of workers in the United States have diverse cultural backgrounds. As promulgated by the Federal Law under “Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964,” I know that every employee has the right to observe their faithful practices which may include but are not limited to style of dress, praying, and fasting (Mathis & Jackson, 2008, p. 106).
Because there seems to be an impending conflict, it is only right to meet with both parties and inform them about the law, their right, as well as their limitation. Special arrangements shall be made to meet only the “possible and reasonable” demands of both parties as long as their work requirements and their productivity will not be affected (Pakroo, 2008, p. 119). The parties, too, cautioned of discriminating anyone who do not share the same faith as they do; and instead, they should practice their faith within the bounds of existing laws by preventing illegal harassment such as “severe insults or threats... meant to harass or intimidate an employee on the basis of religion” to avoid legal actions as well as to promote harmony within the workplace (FindLaw, n.d.).

TMA 05: Professional piece aimed at a suitable print or internet magazine that you research
...Disclosure: Fatima quickened her pace down the muddy road. Her feet made annoying squelchy noises with every hasty step. The rain had made the earthslick and on her left, tiny rivulets of rainwater, that had mixed with the soil to turn the soft brown shade of lightly-boiled chai; ran alongside her. The trees seemed to cry in relief now that the heavens had finally burst upon them, bowing over in gratitude. The fat crows on their branches shuddered, drying themselves and scattering raindrops on the grass below. The heat of the last few afternoons had finally given way to sudden gusty winds with today’s downpour. She was at Salma’s house when it had started and her mother made Fatima and all the other...

The Alchemist by: Paulo Coelho
...Coehlos use of rhetorical strategies focuses more on the ethos and pathos in The Alchemist. The ethical, or ethos use of rhetorical strategy, is found throughout the book. Two specific incidents stand out. The first example is when the protagonist, Santiago, losses his money and possessions by a thief’s trickery in Tangiers. The second example is Santiago’s faithful return to Fatima after his journey as promised. The pathos, or emotional rhetorical strategy, is apparent throughout the whole book. Santiago’s trials and triumphs make the reader feel his ups and downs. Ethos and pathos are the rhetorical strategies used in The Alchemist. ...[Teacher’s Analysis of Mtv’s True Life Resist the Power: Saudi Arabia Introduction In the second day of writing class, Mr. Carson showed us an episode of the show MTV’s True Life entitled Resist The Power: Saudi Arabia that purports to depict the real life of four young Saudis who represent four distinct stories. Two of these stories caught my attention. Fatima, who was the protagonist of the first story, shared her views on wearing only a black colored Abayah, a cultural norm she wishes to change. Ahmed is the main character in the second story. His story was more in sync with the actual conditions in Saudi Arabia, and his honest presentation and insight made his version of events much more intriguing....
