Extract of sample "Strategic Evaluation of Goals for Professional Growth"

As a Biomedical science graduate from the University of Bedfordshire, I was exposed to applications relative to performing and closely evaluating sets of technical procedures needed by health care organizations in screening, maintaining, and improving human health. My line of work consisted basically of testing software pertinent to applications of biological-based science as critical inputs to medical use. My constant interaction with information technology applications enhanced my desire to pursue a field of endeavor closely related to business and organizational systems and design. I realized that the critical role of information technology accords one with far greater opportunities and rewards in terms of career benefits. I am therefore committed and dedicated to delving into Business Systems Analysis and Design (BSAD) from the City University London, considered as one of the most prestigious universities in Europe.

All organizations exist for a specified and well-defined purpose. As I have been part of various organizations, I have realized the need to be more adept in relating my undergraduate degree to apply in information technology and business systems analysis and design. The BSAD program specifically emphasized suitability for interested applicants from any academic discipline as the thrust of the course would be on project-based applications and people-centered approaches. I am currently working as a technical test lead with Capita Education. Capita produces MIS software for schools. Previously, I was connected with FSA and NHS as a Tester. FSA is the governing body for all trading markets in the UK. It lays the law the banks and markets need to adhere to.

My previous career limited my interrelationships with colleagues and associates due to the technical requirements of the job but the experiences provided me with opportunities for database exposure and system architecture and design. I am fully aware that the BSAD program offers potentials for an increased understanding of human resources and behavior as a critical element in the interplay of relevant functions of business, technology, and systems – or the “pillars” with which the course is built. I am most enthusiastic to hone my interpersonal and communication skills, in concurrence with analytic and design skills required to sustain and manage information systems in business organizations. I believe the course would accord a more comprehensive and holistic approach to honing my skills on a more professional level.

I am deeply committed to pursuing a change in my career as part of my future goals. As organizations become more global and technological advancement becomes more profound and intricate in terms of discovering new applications, the career opportunities available from this endeavor are enormous. The career benefits, course content, and structure all fit with my vision to be instrumental in improving systems design and information technology of the organization I am employed with, currently or in the near future. I hope to provide a link in improving technical procedures biomedical science applications that would drastically improve the delivery of health care services. I am optimistic that a course in BSAD from the City University London would provide the impetus for a more challenging and rewarding career that would not only change the pace and direction for my personal and professional growth; but more importantly, enable me to contribute to a significantly positive social and environmental change.
