Report on the effectiveness of government training s: Introduction: The aim of this research was to determine the effectiveness of government training institutions which include the Sultan Qaboos University which is denoted as SQU, the Oman tourism college denoted as OTC and the national hospital institute denoted as NHI. The study aimed at indentifying institutions that trained students in the three institutions and respondents were human resource managers, training managers and supervisors who had direct contact with the students during training. From this paper we will be in a position to determine the efficiency of these variables in each institution, variables in clued job knowledge, communication and English skills, quality of work, cooperation, punctuality and attendance, productivity and initiative. All these variables are important to an organization and will determine the profitability and productivity of an organization, an organization that employs workers with required job knowledge, good communication skills and computer skills are much more likely to have competitive advantage over the others, also these organization will increase their productivity which means that less inputs will be needed in terms of labor hours top accomplish certain tasks, as a result the organization will tend to record higher profits. Using the data collected we use a scale to quantify this data and determine the institution that records higher values for each variable, the higher the value means that the institution is more efficient in providing these skills to their students. This information will help these institutions to improve on their weaknesses and also it will be important to employing organizations whereby they will be in a position to choose the best institution to undertake training. Methodology: The first step was to prepare a questionnaire that would be appropriate in collecting required data, the aim of this study was to identify the strengths and weaknesses of each organization in training students, therefore the questionnaire had to include measures of the job knowledge, productivity, communication and other personal qualities. The questionnaire was pretested to rectify any biasness and when the questionnaires were ready they were given to the respondents. The population was then identified in order to determine the sample size. The population used in this study was the organizations whose training sites were the three training institutes which amounted to 37 organizations. A random sample of 50 respondents was selected from the organizations and questionnaires were emailed. However only 45 questionnaires were completed and returned and therefore only 45 responses were used to analyze the results. After the questionnaires were received the data was analyzed and recorded and a scale was used to quantify the data for statistical inferences, the scale used was number 1 to 4 depending on the question. Data analysis: The respondents: The data collected showed that the average working years for the respondents was 6 years and also that the majority of male where 65.90% were male while 34.10% were female, the following chart summarizes the distribution by gender: From the above chart it is evident that more males were considered for this study than females, another observation from the data is that the average working years for those interviewed was 6 years and that all the respondents were superior and had direct contact with the students during training. Job knowledge: Job knowledge is important in that it determines the effectiveness and productivity of employees, data collected show the frequency of job knowledge for students from each education institute. From the data analysis it was evident that a higher level of job knowledge from the Sultan Qaboos University while the lowest frequency was recorded from national hospital institute, the following chart summarizes the frequency regarding job knowledge: From the above it is evident that SQU has a higher level of job knowledge compared to the other two institutions, NHI has the lowest level of Job knowledge, and for this reason therefore the SQU institute is much better than the other two institutions depending on the level of Job satisfaction. Quality of work: The other variable measure d is the quality of work, this was aimed at determining the level of accuracy, neatness and completeness of tasks among respondents who have direct contact with students from the institution, it was evident that SQU instate had the highest level of accuracy and neatness at the workplace and this shows that this institution is much more better than the institutes in training students for the job. Productivity: This variable was aimed at determining the productivity level of students from the three institutes; it was a response that was based on the level of output from the students, the speed of production and quality produced. The higher the productivity level then the higher is the level of profits attained by an organization; the following chart summarizes the results from the study. Higher productivity was recorded for the SQU institute and low productivity level was recorded for the NHI institute, for this reason therefore it is clear that something has to be done in order to improve on the level of productivity of students in both OTC and NHI institutes. This analysis therefore show that the SQU institution to be a better institution than the other institutes, however there is need to undertake further study whereby a different sample can be used to analyze the institutions, this way we can be in a position to validate this research report and its findings. Communication: Communication is an important issue in an organization, proper communication in an organization ensures smooth running of the organization and also ensures that employees do not misinterpret information, from this study there was measure of communication among the students from the three institution, one variable was aimed at measuring the students knowledge to speak and write English and the other variable was aimed at determining the ability of the students to communicate effectively, the following charts summarizes the results: The above chart summarizes the student’s English knowledge denoted as English knowledge and their ability to communicate effectively denoted as oral communication. From the above chart it is evident that SQU students have higher levels of English knowledge and at the same time students are able to communicate effectively in the work place. Other variables: Other variables include punctuality, stability, computer skills and cooperation, it was evident that SQU had higher level of these variables; punctuality was aimed at measuring the student’s attendance and whether they were available during working hours. The computer skills variable aimed at establishing the level of computer skills and their ability to use computers at the workplace. Form the data analyzed it was evident that more levels of these variables were associated with the SQU institute. Because the variable indentified which include job knowledge, communication and English skills, quality of work, cooperation, punctuality and attendance, productivity and initiative and that these variables are important indicators of an organization profitability and productivity, for this reason they are used in this research to determine the efficiency of these training institutions in providing productive workers in the market. Findings: From the above analysis of the data it is evident that the institutes have their weaknesses and strengths, also using the data collected we can be in a position to determine which organization has been efficient in providing information and skills for the students, analysis of the variables also show the areas that need to improved for each institution and also the how best these institutions can perform better. Strength and weaknesses of the three institutes: We now establish the strengths and the weaknesses of the three instates, the SQU institute according to the data corrected has high frequency levels but still has its strengths and weaknesses, we analyze all three institutes with reference to the variables considered. SQU institute: The chart below summarizes the values recorded for each variable regarding the SQU institute: From the above chart it is evident that the SQU students have their strengths in almost all the variables, however there are those variables with high values while others have relatively low variables, the strengths of students from this institute include punctuality and attendance, cooperation, quality of work, acceptability of responsibility, stability, communication and job knowledge. The weaknesses of students from this instate include computer skills and English language, for this reason therefore the organization should put more effort in increasing English knowledge among the students, improvement of students computer skills should also be considered in order increase the productivity of workers, job knowledge should also be improved among students because this is the most important of all the variables, this determines the productivity of the workers and how efficient they become in the organization. Despite the several weaknesses of this organization it is still evident that it is ranked high as the best in producing better students in the job market as depicted by all then variable considered. The OTC institute: From the above data it is evident that this is the second best institute for training students, the strengths of this institute include punctuation and attendance of students, cooperation, however the weaknesses include low job knowledge of students, low productivity of students, low communication and English skills and also poor computer skills. For this reason therefore it is evident that in order to improve the quality of students that undertake their studies in this institution there should be an increased effort in training the students regarding job knowledge, computer skills in order to increase the productivity of the students. The NHI institute: This institution was also analyzed to determine the strengths and weaknesses of this institution; the following chart summarizes the results for this institution: From the above chart it is evident that this instuition has scored poorly in all the variables considered, non of the total of variables has reached 100 showing that a lot has to be done in order to improve the services offered by the instution. The poorest services offered by this instution include computer skills, this means that students from this institution have very poor computer skills. Conclusion: The study was undertaken to highlight the strength and weakness of government training institutions namely the Sultan Qaboos University, the Oman tourism and the national hospital institute. Instructors who had direct contact with the students during training completed questionnaires that emailed to them, a total of 45 complete questionnaires were analyzed and data was presented to establish the strengths and weaknesses of the three institutions. From the above analysis it is evident that the SQU institution has provided better students in the market, this is because it has recorded high levels of all the variables measured in this study, however there are still some weaknesses that are presented by the data collected, the SQU institution should aimed at improving ton these weaknesses include relatively poor computer skills and English language by students trained at these institutions, for this reason therefore the organization should put more effort in improving English knowledge and computer skills. The Oman tourism institute on the other hand has weaknesses which include low job knowledge among students, low productivity of students, poor computer skills and poor communication skills, all these variables measured are important for the success of an organization and for this reason the students from this institutions are more likely to be less productive compared to those from the Sultan Qaboos University. Finally the national hospital institute according to the above analysis has recorded poor results compared to the other institutes; weaknesses of this institution include that poor computer skills among students, low productivity, low levels of job knowledge and poor communication and English skills. All these weaknesses show that students from this institution will be les productive and therefore organizations will record low levels of efficiency and productivity compared to others that consider students from the other institutions.
