I am a mother too; I am here, my heart there too
I can’t stop thinking about my child,
How come your mother become so wild,
Might be she is imposing her upbringing on you
When I am with you, sometimes I do injustice to my
Child too; I forget him for you
And that doesn't come as empathy for you
It’s the solemnity of solitude that reflects on you
I don't know whether God will forgive me or not
The thought of me never arrives to me, it’s only that
I want to be her; I am ready to take any curse
I think that’s why I am a nurse
Nurse Song Synopsis
Nurse -- as the name comes, a soothing and caring feeling strikes our minds, and a sense of carelessness arrives unexpectedly, as we have someone to take care of us more than we could ourselves.
This poem is written keeping the same thing in mind and this poem highlights the same caring and selfless behavior of a nurse, though a nurse is also not prone to human tendencies which she develops with her interaction with society and the learning during her lifetime from the same, but our nurse has been a part of so-called poor society where human emotions have always triumphed on the economic and power relations.
Our poem starts with our character the so-called nurse showing the human part of his side thinking about her own child while caring for the child she is supposed to, at the same time she is trying to figure out the reason for the indifference of the mother of the child towards her very own son in her own upbringing, might be she had been brought up in such an environment that she has herself become indifferent.
Now her nurse side plays its role and she starts to become more considerate towards the child and starts waning away from her own child, these feelings are not coming in her as sympathy or empathy for the child but because of the irony that in spite of all the resources the child is so helpless, so alone, and at the same time so negligent to the world that the feeling towards him automatically arose in her and she finds herself in a very helpless situation, one side it’s her mother's emotions that are playing the role and the other side her selfless and emotions that are developing for the child.
It might be that’s why she is a nurse or we can say she is destined to be a nurse, as she is ready to take any curse any punishment in order to occupy the position of the mother of the child and at the same time become indifferent towards her very own, she is being pulled from two directions but the thought of her own child, her very own self and the thought of any wrong is not enough for her being pulled from the selfless emotions being developed in her.
This poem reflects the irony of a situation and the role of human behavior in it which in turn is not something static but is a part of a slow and steady development process in which some initial years of his/her upbringing play a pivotal role.
The situation in which our character is can be utilized by anyone for his/her self-benefit as the mother of the child is totally ignorant towards the child and the father indifferent, but our character instead of waning away from the child has developed more affection towards him and up to the limit that she has started ignoring her very own child.
So one can derive from the above explanation that the behavior is more based on your societal interactions, and they play a very pivotal role in the same.
