From my journey as a management trainee to a specialist to a business analyst - spanning half-way around the globe - and my little experiences in the professional world, I have come to grasp what it takes to be a successful salesman. And from these experiences, I have always endeavoured to inculcate the qualities of a genuine salesman within me.

Add to this my passion for computers and information technology, and one realises that it wouldn't take me long to decide which course of study I'd pursue at college.As a child, I was deeply interested in technology and its applications in the daily life of people. How comfortable it made everyone's life! During my teenage days, the computer boom occurred and just about overnight, everyone owned a PC- and they refused to ever shut it down! My first computer was brought in the house amid huge excitement; everybody was amazed by the functions a simple dull-grey box could perform at the click of the button.

Perhaps it was due to such an introduction that my interest for 'technology' soon developed into a curiosity for exploring the world of 'information technology' in particular. With encouragement from my parents, and a determination to take my interest to another level, I undertook several courses to develop skills in this field, many of which were far beyond my academic curriculum. I armed myself with knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, and Kofax Ascent Capture. I mastered languages like C, C++, HTML and XML.

The more I studied it, the more passionate I become for this field.When the time came, I had no doubts deciding to pursue IT for undergraduate school. But that was not my sole career aim. As much as I wanted to contribute to IT, I wanted to venture into the business world and manage a company of my own. Thus, besides doing a Bachelors of Commerce Degree in IT Management at college, I successfully completed a Diploma in Business Management. Furthermore, my experience as a management trainee in India - where I managed customer database, developed design documents and performed Gap-analysis - exposed me to a variety of customers and taught me indispensable business skills.

I understood the essential role of public relations for a firm, and developed solid interpersonal skills and excellent project management skills to complement my mastery in IT and analytical problem-solving abilities. For focusing my proficiency in IT to my career-goals, I learnt business-oriented programs like MySQL, VB.NET, and IBM Rational Rose.For the past many years, I have put in my best efforts to ensure my technopreneurial success. I understand that the tasks that technopreneurs face when starting up a new business are enormous.

But I believe that I can match upto the difficulty of the job. An excellent education in business administration and the technicalities concerned with the IT industry - much like the one provided in DePaul University - will further assist me in accomplishing my goals. My undertakings shall be marked with a high leverage of knowledge and innovation, and I am confident that pursuing the 'Business Information Technology' program at DePaul will greatly assist me in doing so.I consider myself a technopreneur; I always have.
