Mass Media in Italy Italian mass media emerged in the new century by combining the continuous reliance on technology and the traditional means of delivering news and entertainment to the citizens (Nascimbeni). Mass media in Italy incorporates a number of sectors that include film, music, TV (broadcast and use of internet), publishing, video games, and sports. Each sector has associated trends of usage, regulatory rules that governs the operations, legal protection, and legitimate areas of operation. Consequently, the Italians have different views towards the mass industry regarding TV broadcasting, radio broadcasting, and accessibility of internet by the citizens, social networking, and the effect of media usage among the youths.
Part 1
Most TV broadcasters have improvised digital solutions to enable the customers to watch TV programmes using the internet. Subsequently, this has led to the view of TV in Italy similar to the internet whereby most of the citizens can access the programmes through internet gargets such as laptops, mobile phones, iPod, tablets, and computers. Similarly, most of the radio stations in Italy stream live on the internet with most of them concentrating on entertainment such as airing music to the citizens while a number of them deals with analyzing news around the country, as well as, internationally.
According to a BBC recent research, Italy has a total population of 58,090,681 citizens and the number estimated to access the internet is estimated to be 13,200,000 in 2000which has had a significant increase throughout the recent years with a population of 30,0266,400 in 2010 having access to the internet. This gives an estimation of 57.7% of the Italy’s population.

Young immigrants get in touch with their disconnected motherland through social networks that help them retain a big part of their social capital. Media usage among the young generation has adverse negative effect on their social-cultural behaviors, morality, and perception of realty. Increased school violence in Europe has been associated with the use of media by school going teenagers who become brutal because of watching violent oriented movies. Sexual immorality among the young generation in Europe has had an alarming increase, which has been cause by inefficient monitoring and regulation of adult TV programme. Internet usage habits has enabled the young generation to access information and technological techniques, which has increased internet crimes among the youths.
Media can manipulate the information the youth access on various media and make more useful through technological approaches, which will help in enhancing positive attitude among youths. Restrictive measures on adult information by the media can largely change how the youth perceives the beliefs of media in contributing towards sexual immorality and drug abuse. Interchanging programs can serve a main role in changing the media usage among youths as it will allow them spend time only on what they fill they enjoy leaving other gratuitous programs and information.

Italy has a total number of 358 television stations, 88 daily newspapers, and 4709 radio stations. Film media is responsible in the production of movies in the country. TV (internet and broadcast) media covers the largest percentage of the Italian media.
Western influence in mass media
The western culture has largely influenced the perception social media, TV, film, and music. The pop culture has improved the music industry through the integration of popular culture. Curtis indicates that the current music videos and discos are ruining the America, which is because of the impact of MTV. According to the BBC news, the cut down on the television Centre in west London will affect a main part on the production of films that may even lead to termination of airing some off the programs on TVs.
Kind of people using the media
Media is used b y a variety of individuals in different ways for purposes that suit them. Politicians usually use the TV media to conduct political agendas across the country and to conduct campaigns during the time of elections. The young people mainly use the media for, social interaction, entertainment, and educational. Economic use the media for advertisement of their goods and services. Religious leaders and peer counselors intensively use the media on moral education to the citizens.
Effect of media use among the young generation in Europe
Increased school violence in Europe has been associated with the use of media by school going teenagers who become brutal because of watching violent oriented movies. This attack indicated that the media is feeding the youth with the inappropriate information changing the how they perceive reality. The brutal programs in TVs increase the violence and brutality of the youths that feels the need to practice it in the real life. Sexual immorality among the young generation in Europe has had an alarming increase, which has been cause by inefficient monitoring and regulation of adult TV programme. Thedailyherald indicates that accessibility of sex videos on the internet by youths has agitated increased urge for premature sex involvement.
Internet usage habits has enabled the young generation to access information and technological techniques, which has increased internet crimes among the youths. Cybercrimes has been the recent criminal activities that the young generation is practicing. This has been a result of having the right knowledge but using it in the wrong way such that instead of using the knowledge to help the country, they have embarked on hacking the governments systems and other private systems to steal money.
