Notably, the corporation’s all-inclusive resorts are located in exotic locations across the globe. However, the first Club Med village was established in the island of Mallorca, Spain. It was made of straw huts and shared sanitary facilities. This village was unlike the modern facilities in which are constructed modern huts. Following the acquisition of Club Med by the wealthy Baron Edmond de Rothschild in 1963, the resort grew considerably (Club Mediterranean, 2015). In the 1963-1993 periods, Club Med expanded and constructed other resorts such as winter facilities to offer divergent and unique services such as winter tuition and skiing.

By 1965, the corporation had opened its first resort outside the Mediterranean region, in Tahiti. Later, resorts were built in the American Zone, starting with the Caribbean and Florida. Although its resorts were initially targeting single people and young couples, it would later target families, starting in 1967 (Club Mediterranean, 2015).
