During the discussion, Mitt Romney uncompromisingly took the president, regarding various issues from the fields such as health care, economy, taxes and job slumps among many others. The report is about choosing an area of discussion or selecting a question from the debate and then analysing it and offering a conclusion. The discussion had shed light on several issues. Some of the issues include birth control & abortion, war, terrorism, tax, job market, immigration, foreign policy, debt, a balanced budget, economy, education, training and development, the energy sector, health care, social security.
Therefore according to the requirements of the report, the issue that has been chosen to make analysis is related to the job market. The question that is selected from the debate is “How to create jobs?” The primary rationale behind choosing this issue is its connection with both economic as well as business perspectives. The next half of the project will therefore analyse the views of both Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney on the issue of the job market and job creation. AnalysisThe debate between Barrack Obama and Mitt Romney commenced with the host of the program throwing his first question on How to create jobs?
In my opinion, the creation of a job is one of the most important factors for a nation and its economy to survive. The creation of jobs not only helps in providing jobs to citizens of the country, but it also has several other direct as well as indirect impacts. Hence Questions pertaining to the creation of jobs is imperative. It is one of the serious problems that are faced by every country in the world. The issue got more obvious, after the great depression. In the USA the unnatural job cuts and stagnated recruitment has caused huge difficulties.
Hence certain steps are needed to be taken in order to revive the job market of the USA. I believe that in order to create jobs, the government of the USA needs to follow or practise certain activities. One such important factor is the alteration in the present tax policies. Although cutting tax will not impact the job market directly, but will have influence indirectly. I also believe that reviving the energy sector will provide create a large number of job opportunities in the USA. The energy sector of the USA is one of the promising and potential sectors, which has the ability to impact directly the economic growth of the USA.
Once the economic growth is witnessed, it will also increase the job opportunities within the country. One of the most important factors that I would like to emphasize is the alteration of tax policies. The present tax policy is certainly affecting middle-class Americans; however, the higher income group is doing fine with it. Therefore I firmly believe that substantial tax relief should be provided to these segments. Moreover, Tax relief will also encourage the opening of new ventures in the country.
The new ventures in turn will then be creating new job opportunities. Corporate tax is another area that can act as a decisive factor for creating job opportunities. It has been observed that due to high corporate taxes, companies are facing a large number of difficulties. It is highly dampening the chances of opening new ventures and restricting existing firms to hire new employees. Furthermore, this policy will certainly affect the existing small business houses (The New York Times “Presidential Debate 2012 (Complete) Romney vs.
Obama - 10/3/2012 - Elections 2012). Thus the corporate tax policy is negatively impacting the job market in the US. However, if it can be reformed, it will assist in promoting small and medium business ventures. I believe job creation is directly proportional to the establishment of new ventures and the economic growth of a country. In this context, I believe that promoting more international trade by reducing trade barriers will increase job opportunities. Apart from that several other factors such as military budgets, training and development budgets need to be controlled, in order to avoid budget shortfalls.
Therefore I believe it is important to establish a balanced budget for the economy (Montopoli). ConclusionAfter going through the entire debate, I can only signify it as clinical and even wonky to a certain extent. From the debate, one thing I believe became apparent is the defensive nature of Barrack Obama. He was most defensive throughout the entire discussion. From the exchange of words between Mitt Romney and Barrack Obama, it became obvious that the discussion lacked humanity and kindness.
Now the issue of the questions that have been discussed in the project was chosen from the economic perspectives. Hence after analysing the chosen question, it can be concluded that in order to create jobs, it is extremely important to focus on some of the major economical factors of the USA. The factors that I believe to be significant includes opening up of the economy in order to facilitate international trade, focus on the development of training and education system, more programs like ‘race to the top’ should be launched in order to enhance the skills and expertise of the students as well as the teachers.
