? GLOBALGIVING CHARITY By Introduction GlobalGiving Charity is an organization that was founded by executives in the World Bank. The goal of the two executives was to create an organization that had the capability to enable individuals and organizations to initiate projects in the United States and around the world. The organization also promotes openness whereby projects around the world are easily monitored and tracked. GlobalGiving also provides a platform, which attracts donations from donors around the world. The funds acquired from these donations come a long way to assist in the creation of a new source of reliable funds. These funds assist in financing projects that are aimed at the improvement of the social, environmental and economic conditions locally and around the world. GlobalGiving allows donors to find grass root projects of their choice. This consequently increases the probability of donors submitting donations on projects that promote improvement in the economic, social and environmental conditions. Another factor that promotes the attraction of funds from individuals and organizations is the fact that GlobalGiving facilitates the initiation of projects that are specific to the interests of donor organizations and individuals. The projects facilitated by the GlobalGiving organization range from economic development to healthcare and education. Environmental improvement and development is also incorporated in these projects (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 107). GlobalGiving uses programs to help this organization accomplish its mission. This is evident in countries like Cameroon whereby this organization strives to provide equal opportunities in Cameroon through the provision of clean water accessible to children in primary schools. Medical supplies are also provided to hospitals to support the groups that are economically vulnerable. This assists in the provision of medical care for the people affected by HIV/AIDS. GlobalGiving also initiates self-help programs. These programs that mostly target women are aimed at the providing access to microcredit facilities, which enables them to take better care of themselves (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 107). Micro and macro environments The micro and macro environments are the key stakeholders of GlobalGiving. They include the customers, suppliers, distributors and competitors. The environment is considered those factors that the management in the organization does not have control over but have a significant effect on the operation of the organization. The microenvironment is composed of the factors that have the capacity to affect operations such as suppliers, competitors and consumers. In this situation, they include the donors and the beneficiaries. The macro environment consists of factors that are beyond the environmental scope. These factors include world economic trends, political influence and inflation. Therefore, these factors promote uncertainty in the environment. Economic recessions and political threats pose a threat to the operation of the GlobalGiving organization (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 107). S.W.O.T Analysis A S.W.O.T Analysis is a tool used to study a particular organization. The conduction of this analysis assists in the strengthening of an organization through providing a way for self-improvement. Strengths The charity organization Global Giving has many strengths that accounts for the success of the organization. One of these advantages is the establishment of a proper strategic plan. These strategic plans provides put in place allow for the betterment of the organization. The charity organization also has skilled personnel working in the organization. This promotes efficiency and effectiveness in the organization. Another factor that has promoted success in the organization is the fact it has a good collaboration with the government and the private sector (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 108). Weaknesses The charity organization GlobalGiving has its weaknesses. Weaknesses in this charity organization affect the performance of the organization in accomplishing its mission and goals. One of the factors affecting performance in the organization is that the organization relies heavily on donor aid as a source funds to finance projects around the world. The organization lacks the capacity to individually fund projects and hence this affects the effectiveness of the organization in fulfilling. The organization also lacks skilled personnel in some areas in the organization. This comes as a disadvantage to the organization whereby the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization is hampered (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 108). Opportunities The charity organization GlobalGiving has acquired many opportunities. This is evident through the organization’s promotion of voluntary contribution of the government to social activities. The organization has acquired a vast piece of land where the institution will be established. Peace, security and political stability provide the suitable working conditions for the organization. Funding agencies and donors provide the charity organization with the financial aid the organization needs. The organization also functions in the global arena giving a large sphere of influence (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 108). Threats There are also threats present affecting the performance of the organization. One of the threats present is the absence of adequate resources within the organization. The organization also faces threats from widespread diseases such as malaria and HIV/AIDS. This affects the organization’s performance in the setup of its projects around the world (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 108). Competitive Advantage The charity organization GlobalGiving has a competitive advantage that allows the organization to flourish around the world. The competitive advantage is because of the unique services it offers in the United States and around the world. One of the competitive advantages is the fact that the organization is distributed. This distribution is in the form of increased connectivity, which increases its reach in the delivery of projects in countries around the world. Another competitive edge that GlobalGiving has is the fact that it offers a diverse range of projects that caters for human and environmental needs. These projects facilitate development in key areas such as economy and the environment. Another competitive edge the organization has is that it receives a lot of support in the form of financial aid to fund its projects around the world. These supporters are in the form of leaders in philanthropy, the private sector and many more organizations. GlobalGiving has also managed to maintain a competitive edge through the maintenance of long-term goals through employing strategies that make the organization self-sustaining. Self-sustenance of the organization is possible through maintained donor facilitation fees and fee based services provided by institutional and corporate partners. GlobalGiving also allows donors to participate in projects of their choice. This in effect attracts more donors as donors are allowed to participate in specific projects of their choice at their desired location in the world. The high levels of transparency present in GlobalGiving promote its competitiveness around the world. Donors are in a position to monitor projects to their completion (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 110). Gap Analysis A gap analysis acts as a tool that enables organizations to compare the actual performance to the potential performance. Therefore, an organization that does not make the best use of its resources produces a performance that is below its potential. A gap analysis also enables organizations stipulate procedures that enable the company to move from the current stat e of performance to a desired state in future. A gap analysis revolves around factors such as performance levels, competences and attributes. Determining these attributes currently in an organization will promote the projection for future outcomes. In the GlobalGiving organization, the competence levels are significantly high. This is due to the presence of skilled personnel who are responsible for promoting project initiation and the conduction of feasibility studies of the projects. The competent workforce is responsible for the success recorded within the organization. The performance levels within this organization are very high. This is due to the fact the organization is responsible for the initiation of projects around the world that meet the needs of the disadvantaged around the world. Therefore, it is evident that the performance levels in this charity organization are high (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 111). Strategic Recommendations Among the strategic recommendations that are in line with the goals and objectives of Globalgiving is the promotion of the use of green sources of energy. The use of green energy reduces carbon emissions into the environment. Engaging in these projects around the world facilitates the preservation of the environment. The use of green energy also has the advantage of being cost effective in the sense that this will provide for affordable transport around the world. Another strategy in line with the objectives of the organization is the focus on women empowerment. This is whereby women around the world are provided with microfinance facilities that promote their development and hence empowerment (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 109). Competitor Reaction Because of the competition presented by GlobalGiving, competitors in the same field of charity react through the implementation of new strategies. These new strategies are aimed at performance improvement. One of the reactions of competitors would be to imitate the approach used in GlobalGiving or the incorporation of a different approach. The imitation of the approach used by a specific organization may not affect the performance and operations of the organization. This is because the organization since pioneering a specific strategy will give a company the upper hand (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 112). Future market According to the analysis conducted regarding the future marketplace among charity organizations, the market situation is predicted to remain the same. This is because parameters that influence the performance of charity organizations such as GlobalGiving are assumed to remain constant. In the event that these parameters change, they have an insignificant effect on the operations of the charity organizations. Therefore, the market in the future is expected to have changes, which have an insignificant effect on the operation of charity organizations (Daley-harris, 2009, p. 113). Conclusion Aid is playing a major role in the promotion of campaigns against injustices for the disadvantaged in the society and poverty. Organizations such as GlobalGiving promote have promoted an improvement in the livelihood of over 25 million people around the world. GlobalGiving ensure that the disadvantaged people in the society are accorded justice. The women and children are an area of focus. This is whereby they are given a chance to tackle the root of their problems and get the chance to improve sustainable developments.
