Leadership Skills Needed For the 21st Century of the Introduction Leadership skills of a person or leader represent the necessary qualities and skills required for leading any process or work effectively. Strong leadership skills help the leaders to manage and control the business operations and retain sustainable growth of their businesses. According to the business environment leaders must implement their skills. In 21st century, the business organizations are involved with several complex business operational activities and processes for which companies require effective and efficient leadership. In this century, organizations are facing new challenges. Therefore new leadership skills are required for leaders which help them to handle those challenges. This case study highlights the views of famous leaders of some reputed companies regarding the leadership skills required for 21st century. Leadership skills play a vital role globalizing and enhancing different activities and processes of business. Oh-Hyun Kwon the Vice Chairman and CEO of Samsung has mentioned that leaders must upgrade their skills along with the changing business environment. According to Mr. Known, the modern world businesses are expanding globally at a very faster rate. Therefore, the business leaders must have broad mindset which will help them to act and think globally. The leaders need to have strong analytical skill. This will facilitate them to implement any decision in the complex business environment of 21st century. The firms of 21st century believe in innovations. Therefore, the leaders must have the skill to develop and establish unique products and services. This will contribute a lot in growth and development of the business (Bamberger and Meshoulam, 2000). In the present time the organizations have employees who belong from different cultural background. According to Oh-Hyun Kwon leaders should have the skills to embrace cultural diversity in the work place. They should extract good things from different cultures and motivate people to follow those things for reducing cultural gaps. The ability of strategic thinking is required for the leaders for enhancing the business processes. The leaders must develop different activities for helping the society and environment. For this reason they must have strong interpersonal skills which will help the leaders to establish connection with the people. The leaders need to have good communication power for enhancing the business process (Story and Barbuto, 2011). Strong communication will help them to provide knowledge to all organizational members. The leaders must make a clear idea about organizational goals. Oh-Hyun Kwon stated that establishing good communication system will help the leaders to motivate and encourage organizational members. Most of the companies of 21st century have many hierarchies in its organizational structure. Therefore the leadership skill of communication is very much essential for leaders. The leaders must have trustworthy character which will help them to develop strong bonding with organizational members. Todd Etter, the Chief Collaboration officer of Motley Fool, produced different views regarding leadership skills. According to Mr. Etter, leaders must have a strong passion for improving business condition. Leaders should have the skill to inspire organizational members and motivate them in their work. Leaders of 21st century must have coaching skills to train and develop organizational members based on needs and requirements. Leaders need to be flexible enough to adjust themselves in changing business environment. Organizations in 21st century are changing a lot to improve its business process (Roy, 2012). Todd Etter also produced the view that leaders should have the skill to apply knowledge and idea effectively, in the business process. Leaders of 21st century must have unique image which will help them to influence organizational members. Technology plays a vital role in the organizations of 21st century. Therefore, the leaders need to develop their technical skills for the growth and development of the company. For globalizing business process, the leaders should have good managerial skills. These skills will help the leaders to utilize company resources effectively. In 21st century sustainable business growth is very must important to business. Therefore, leaders need to develop their entrepreneurial skills for developing new business ideas. This will also help them to perform different works related to corporate responsibilities (Strand, 2011). Todd Etter stated that leaders must pay a detail attention to different activities of the organizations. In the modern business environment a single business function or activity plays a significant role in organizational growth and development. Therefore, the leaders should have the skill to analyze and judge different business functions. Based on these analyses the leaders can enhance their knowledge about business process. Organizational leaders need to have the ability to establish values. With the help of this skill leaders can make the organizational members understand about the importance and value of their work (Weiss, 2004). They must have the skill to understand and value different cultures, behaviors and perceptions of organizational members (Bass, 2007). This will help them to develop organizational strategies to motivate employees. This leadership skill also plays important role in managing cultural diversity. Therefore, the leaders should have the skill to inspire organizational people to play active role in globalizing the business process. Leaders need to analyze the market for implementing organizational change. This leadership skill contributes a lot in sustainable development of the business. The leaders of 21st century need to support and guide organizational members for managing business process effectively. Organizational leaders should have strong motivational skills to motivate and influence employees for performing different social responsibilities. This helps the companies to benefit the society and attract more customers. Forward looking skill of leaders helps them to implement different strategies for benefiting the society. This leadership skill facilitates the leaders to influence organizational members and establish different functions for growth and development of companies. In 21st century companies put huge effort for establishing their position in competitive market. In this case study different famous leaders have produced their views regarding essential leadership skills which are required in 21st century. In this century business processes have changed a lot. Many new functions and activities are involved in enhancing business operations. As per the views of three famous business persons organizational leaders must have some important skill which will contribute a lot in globalizing business. Leaders by implementing their different skills need to develop new business plans for sustainable development of business. Effective leadership skills help organizational members to innovate new ideas.
