Change management is a systematic approach for dealing with change that takes place in the organization as well as at the individual level. Such change management comprises of three aspects: adapting change, controlling it and finally affecting it. These three aspects of change management were well explained in three stages of change model given by Lewin (1952) and the three stages are “unfreezing”, “change” & “refreezing” (Orlikowski & Hofman, 1997). Another model for change was introduced by Prosci after conducting a research on more than 1000 companies from 59 countries. They introduced ADKAR model, which means

The ADKAR model for change management was introduced by the CEO of Prosci Research in 1998 in the book “The Perfect Change by Jeff Hiatt”. As per the model, the management of an organization will be benefitted if they understand the below given points clearly-

Change management in SWC should be only successful if a proper model for change management will be followed. But in SWC, the change has already been introduced. The results of such sudden and unplanned change are clearly visible because many employees have shown their dissatisfaction and they are trying to resist the change. It is the duty of higher management to handle the situation before it goes out of control. It’s not too late to give a second though and to develop a plan that how the condition can be controlled. This will be a learning experience for SWC as they can utilize this experience for introducing any change in the coming future.

SWC follows a matrix organizational structure, so the Customer Service Department functions with other business units. In a matrix organizational structure, all the departments render services to each other, thus different organizations can share their resources and information to have a synergic effect.

So management should understand that a change introduced in one department will have an impact on all others, hence while taking any major decision related to one department, other departments should be taken into consideration.  ...Download file to see next pagesRead More
