Global Consistency and Local Adaptation al Affiliation) The management of any organization needs to formulate strategies for the standardization of business procedures. In a global scenario, it needs to ensure that a balance exists between Local Adaptation and Global Consistency (LA & GC). There are several differences between LA & GC. Global consistency applies a homogenous model in its operations. This occurs through the adaptation of similar policies and procedures in every geographical location that the organization operates.

The aim of the management in the application of this model is to ensure that decision-making process becomes easy (Dopson, 2008). On the other hand, local adaptation is the adoption of standardized procedures depending on the differences or the nature of a particular market. This uses a feasibility study to develop an idea of the most likely situation once there is an introduction of a certain business procedure. The main aim of the management of a particular organization in the employment of a local adaptation model is to create more control over the operations of the business.

However, different businesses have different needs in relation to LA & GC. Some of the organizations succeed through the implementation of either of the models with the elimination of the other model. Global consistency has several benefits and liabilities. Some of the benefits include the development of an alignment process. This ensures that the operations of the business occur towards the achievement of the projected revenue or profit. Another benefit arises due to the use of global consistency for cost management.

This occurs using a cost benefit analysis to determine the viability of projects. Through global consistency, it is easy for an organization to develop the skills of its employees. The need for efficiency leads an organization to produce quality goods or offer quality services. The liabilities relate to any form of problem for future consideration in relation to an uncertain payment (Dopson, 2008). The global consistency problem is the risk of exposure of an organization. This occurs through sharing of sensitive information about the organization during global market entry.

Lastly, whenever there is a network problem, it is almost impossible to manage the operations of the organization. Local adaptation also has its benefits and liabilities. One advantage is that if an organization customizes its services or products, then the clientele base would increase significantly. The disadvantage is that the organization has to delegate some of its operations, for instance, the marketing and production functions. Another benefit is that there is an easy formulation of distribution channels due to the adaptation of the new infrastructure in a given country (Dopson, 2008).

Most of the countries encourage local adaptation. This is because of the protection of nationalism and the promotion of the local content. Through the local adaptation, it is easy to adapt to a new marketing strategy due to the definition of specific requirements by different states on the dimension. However, this limits the nature of the organization in the achievement of economies of scale. This is due to the confinement of such organizations to the local responsiveness. ReferenceDopson, S. (2008). Mapping the management journey practice, theory, and context.
