Review of an Academic Research Paper It is important for the researcher to be aware of the proper layout of the academic research paper, as it is important to make sure that the content is arranged in efficient and effective manner. The writing of the research paper is the last phase in the overall process of research. The research paper conveys the whole process of research from collection of data, to analysis, and to final discussion. For this reason the researchers should be careful while writing the academic research paper and should make sure that all elements and parts of a proper academic research paper are included.

The basic layout of the academic research paper consists of following elements: abstract, key words, introduction, literature review, methodology part, analysis and findings, discussion part, and the conclusion and recommendations. Along with this another important element is of the references, as it is important to properly acknowledge the sources of secondary information within the academic research paper. In this paper, the academic research paper by Stainton, Johnson, and Borodizicz (2010) on the topic of “Education validity of business gaming simulation: a research methodology framework” has been critically analysed on the basis of the proper layout for the academic research paper.

In the research paper the authors have explored the overall validity of the business gaming simulation on the basis of the previous researches and have proposed a framework for the successful educational validity studies which can facilitate the simulation designers in the process of implementing the valuable simulation media. The examples presented in the academic research paper provided with an understanding that internal validity reflects that the students have achieved their desired learning whereas, the external validity focuses on the application of all that is learned in the real world.

This indicates that external validity is not possible without the achievement of internal validity as without the learning process, a student may not be able to apply the learning into real world. The research paper contains a proper abstract in the starting in order to provide the readers with the complete overview regarding the research paper. The abstract is concise and convey the required information in effective and efficient manner. The academic research paper under consideration contains concise yet thorough abstract which serves the purpose of providing the overview of main idea of the research paper along with the findings of the research paper to the readers at the first glance.

The second important element of a well written academic research paper is the key words. It is important for the researcher to present the important concepts and words which have been used and discussed in the academic research paper. The key words are selected carefully and should be in relation to different educational concepts and terms this in turn makes it easy for the reader to find the relevant articles. In the academic research paper under investigation, the authors have listed the key words after presenting the abstracts.

The key words are in association with the topics and concepts presented and discussed in the academic research paper. Next the authors have presented the introduction of the topic under discussion and have successfully elaborated the topic and have provided the readers with the basic understanding about the subject under investigation. Although the authors have not carefully divided the content of the academic research paper in the different segments of literature review and findings and hence it becomes difficult to understand the flow of the academic research paper.

But at the same time the authors have presented the all information under different headings and sub headings in order to make it easier for the readers to understand and comprehend the research paper. The academic research paper consists of comprehensive and detailed section of methodology and has supported the assertions with the help of the scholarly resources and articles. The academic research paper proposed a framework for the game simulation research studies after reviewing all pervious literature and researches.

Lastly, the authors have presented a comprehensive conclusion in the academic research paper in order to summarise the overall research findings and providing the readers with the ending notes about the research study. In the end, the academic research paper consists of properly made references list which outlines all references used by the researchers during the overall research process and hence acknowledge all secondary sources. Hence, it can be said that the academic research paper under investigation has been arranged on the basis of the standard layout of the research papers with the only exception of the separate literature review and findings sections.
