Comparison Essay of COMPARISON ESSAY Hardships and easy going are both part and parcel of life. Nothing in life is constant. Change is inevitable. These books discuss the hardships that can occur in a normal person’s life and it depends on them how they face them. The autobiography of Malala shows her hardships that she faced from the day she was born. Her gender was her biggest hurdle but the support of her parents made life easy. The next hardship she faced was studying, which was against a norm in Swat Valley for girls.

Her strong will, determination and wisdom got her through this obstacle. Even when she was shot by the Taliban her wisdom which Chodron talks about in her book got her through. Malala had the opportunity to avail her happiness which was in education and by her wisdom she achieved it. Malala’s unbreakable faith got her past the finish line. I Am Malala is an autobiography written by Malala Yosufzai. Malala was born in Shangla and moved to Mingora. Her birth was not a joyous event for her family primarily because of her gender and also because there was not much to eat.

Her mother was illiterate and her father was a teacher involved in various social and political events. Her father opened various schools and went against tradition and encouraged her to study. Taliban and the earthquake in the Swat Valley changed the prospect of the people living there. Malala did not worry about the violent Talibsn and continued going to school and spoke on public forums to promote education. Her speeches and blogs were from the heart and she gained quick popularity. In 2012 when she was coming back from school her bus was stopped and Malala was shot.

A lot of blood was lost and her condition worsened. She was transferred to England where she spent months recovering. Her dedication attracted many people and became associated with the UN after her recovery. She currently resides in England with her family (allreaders.com). “When Things Fall Apart” is a book written by Pema Chodron who is a staunch Buddhist. The book is a collection of her talks that she gave between 1987 and 1994. The book is a key to successful living using wisdom. Wisdom is necessary to overcome pain.

Chodron is spiritual teacher that uses wisdom to overcome tragedy. Chodron discusses how to generate wisdom, compassion and courage using pain. She emphasizes on communication so people open up about their issues. She also encourages practices for reversing habitual patterns. Throughout the book she gives various methods to deal with chaotic situations. Prema gives ways for creating effective social actions in the light of Buddhism (shambhala.com). The reaction to both these books is a good one.

Response to Malals’s book has raised spirits of many girls and youngsters. Response to Prema’s book is also strong because she gives solutions against pain and tragedy using Buddhism. These books give us an insight on the problems any normal person’s life could go through. The important part is if that person gets through or not. It is important that the person not surrender to the hardships. Wisdom, will and perseverance take a person long distances. These attributes are the key to happiness in life.

Happiness is a fundamental right but ironically we let other emotions such as pain take over. Wisdom can conquer any calamity. .
