She had passion in musical theatre that was revealed at the age of nine. When free she could hear Shain Twain’s songs that she was very fond of. Swift joined and performed in Berks Youth Theatre Academy Productions and The sound of Music. Additionally, she attended a number of acting and vocal lessons in Broadway in New York, making early steps that would later form the path of her career. Most of Taylor swift’s weekends were spent attending and thus performing in Sport events, local festivals, coffeehouses, and garden clubs (“Taylor Alison Swift”, 2014).

She further won most of the local talent competitions by singing songs by various singers that she was fond of (Jaitly, 2014). A good example is when she sang a rendition of LeAnn Rimes, which won her the opportunity of attending the opening act for Charlie Daniels at Strauss town. At the age of nine her parents moved to Wyomissing, Pennsylvania where she had the chance of attending Reading Elementary Center and later Wyomissing Area High school. Her summers as earlier stated were spent in her parents’ home at the Jersey shore.

Her passion for country music isolated her from her peers from middle school to high school (“Taylor Alison Swift”, 2014).A computer repair man showed her how to play three chords on a guitar and inspired her first single song, “Lucky You”. This notwithstanding her poem titled “Monster in My Closet” had also won a national poetry contest (Jaitly, 2014). She however had a lot of focus in songwriting. Her moving to Nashville at the age of fourteen catapulted by her passion for singing drew her into a deal with RCA Records.

However, at the age of fifteen she left RCA Records, having being impatient to wait until eighteen to release a song as per her agreement with the Record Company. Luckily, at an industry showcase, she met Scott Borchetta who at the time was the executive of DreamWorks
