No man or woman is an island and it can be very difficult to plan one’s time and balance one’s life. You might need help. Sometimes this involves asking your partner to help you out, to help you plan your time more appropriately so you have more time to practice writing. But it might also involve asking a professional help budget your time and work on a schedule. There’s no shame in that. That’s why those people exist and they know what they’re doing. Sometimes people have so much on the go that they themselves are unable to get a grasp on it all. They need a fresh pair of eyes to help make sense of it all. And that’s where a professional can come in handy. Many of them are quite cheap. In the future, I will use the writing center more and will work more closely with a tutor to ensure my writing improves and I am ready to move through my college experience with confidence. DQ2 Identify the writing strategies you have learned in this course and how you plan to use them. How have your thoughts about the suggestions in the essays changed based on your experiences over the last 9 weeks? A key thing to do when writing an essay or a project of any sort is to make sure that it is organized. The organization does not come easily to me. I sometimes have a hard time with it and it takes many hours to make it work. But without organization, a writing project falls apart. To start with a key thing to remember is the outline. A writer saves a lot of time by outlining the assignment in advance. What kinds of things does the writer want to say? How many points do they want to make? Next, it is important for essays to have a thesis statement that presents the argument that is being made. It is important for paragraphs to have topic sentences and for these paragraphs to flow together so that it is easy for a reader to follow what is being said. The whole point of writing is to keep in mind your audience and to ensure that you are communicating properly with them. If you cannot do that, then there is no point in doing the writing in the first place. Once a writer has completed the work, it is very important to revise. Very few people can write a perfect draft the first time around. There are often several mistakes and typos in the work which need to be considered. It can help to read the work allowed so that you can listen for mistakes or get a friend to do so. Bad writing with many mistakes not only is not persuasive but it can make the reader miss the point or get angry. DQ3 Describe the various university resources you have learned about in this course and others at Axia that will be useful to you in the on-going development of your grammar and writing skills. Generally speaking, I never use the university resources except for the materials from the teachers from week to week. When I begin working on an assignment I usually do some online researches plus consult with my family members about the topic. Like I said in the Discussion Question 1 above, I only use CWE service to help my grammar. Generally, I do a lot of online research to help develop my writing skills and try not get lost because too much information can lead me to in conflicting directions.  ...Download file to see next pagesRead More

To What Extent Does the Concept of Emotional Intelligence Point Towards a New Means of Controlling Workers

Weber believed that ‘the specialized experts organized into smoothly functioning units by the bureaucratic managers would provide these elite managers with a decision-making ability foreign to the parliaments and the courts’ (Glassman et al., 1984, 5). However, in order for the role of managers within bureaucratic environments to be understood, it is necessary to proceed to a thorough examination to the structure and the characteristics of such an environment under normal social and political conditions.

Moreover, the acceptance of Weber’s views on bureaucracy has led to the assumption that bureaucracy (Fry, 1989, 41) ‘is not necessarily rational, it may not be efficient, that other forms of orga...

Towards the Comparison of Specialized Courts in USA and India

Without specialized courts, resolution of complex matters would have been stalled and progress dampened.

Both countries have high educational standards and believe in an informed judiciary who are experts in their fields and these courts are presided by such persons. Justice is speedy in both cases and both give their judges penal and punitive powers.

Although there are many similarities, yet there are some differences both in content and in approach. Whereas the US believes in a more liberal outlook, giving greater emphasis to Human Rights, India lags behind due to its colonial and cultural legacies. The redeeming feature is that lead by its own global status as a growing economic power, it is trying to shed...

The Concept of Voice in Academic Writing

... to be a good strategy in the effort to develop good writing. “The ear is probably our most trustworthy organ of discrimination in writing” (Elbow, “Pleasures of Voices” 229). To this end, audible voice can probably best be developed by reading a proposed text out loud, so that the writer can hear the effect the text has as an audible experience. In later work, Elbow lists the different types of voice in five equal categories: audible voice or intonation; dramatic voice; recognizable or distinctive voice; voice with authority; and resonant voice or presence ("Everyone Can Write" 193). Of these, the first four are non-controversial. Elbow claims the last meaning of voice is controversial but still a useful concept in writing. Even without...

The Timeline Approach to Writing

When someone is considering writing something as long as 10 pages or more of text from the experience of maybe 2 or 4 page long papers, they can become easily overwhelmed with where to start and how they’re going to find enough information to fill the required length. A variety of methods have been devised to help people overcome their initial fear and get started with the writing process.  Some suggest starting with general research and others might promote the use of stages or steps in order to get the paper done. The key element of a successful writing process, however, is finding one that suits the individual’s personality, writing style and methods of learning. As a result, in most cases, using one particular...

The Importance of Good Leadership in the Implementation of a Successful Organizational Change

Since the year 2000, globalization has led many large business organizations to implement a long list of necessary changes in order to keep their business competitive within the global market. These changes may be influenced by both internal and external factors. (Burke, 2002)  Internal factors could be the introduction of a newly appointed general manager that came from a different company and cultural background or a change in organizational policy.  On the other hand, external factors may include new customers’ preferences in terms of products and services, a new direction with regards to where the market is heading, constantly changing the educational level of the potential manpower or the technological changes...

OConnors Fiction and Debates on Good and Evil

This paper shall seek to engage with works of O’Connor’s fiction and related debates on good and evil. O’Connor argues that good and evil are relative states and while a person may not be good at a certain point of time, he or she may, through another lens, appear so.
One such instance is the character of Francis Tarwater from the novel The Violent Bear It Away. On the one hand, one may think of him as a despicable character who murders a differently-abled child who is related to him. This murder is also committed at the behest of a character named Vice who is almost always associated with the devil, who is the embodiment of evil in many narratives. The murder, however, also becomes a symbolic baptism as far...

Beyond Good and Evil

He always seems to hear voices in his head telling him how intelligent he is and that makes it always his duty to offer advice regardless of what one thinks of him. True to say, some of the advice he offers is quite impactful if followed, but some are just dumb. However, that is not a problem. In most cases, he is quiet and accommodative, provided no one irks him or questions his source of money. Many say he is a drug peddler and it is always difficult to ascertain that because no one has ever caught him red-handed selling or imbibing some into his system.
One day, the news of his arrest filled the air. We were all shocked that the John we knew was a criminal and was now behind bars. It was hard to believe because every time...
