Antony Robbins - A Great Communicator “Happiness and success in life are not the result of what we have, but rather of how we live. What we do with the things we have makes the biggest difference in the quality of life” Robbins, Anthony. Introduction It has been often underlined that being a perfect communicator is a guarantee of one’s success. Anthony Robbins is a good example of the way communication skills can lead to prosperity and fame. A power of words is immense. Fortunately, we do not live during times of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and daily communication is crucial in our lives. Tony Robbins is remarkable for his ability to integrate communication and motivation. His perfected skills of communicator have inspired millions of people around the world. Still, it is not enough to copy his style, appearance and the way of communication in order to reach success. It is better to learn from him how to communicate with other in order to reach personal goals. There is no need to manipulate others, but it is better to find a unique and integrative communicative strategy relevant to any individual. In this case the audience would be absorbed by your speech. In order to analyze a phenomenon of Tony Robbins, it is relevant to consider his multi-faceted personality from different perspectives. Tony Robbins….who is he? To begin with, it should be noted that he has been practicing in the field of the personal development for nearly 20 years. Thus, his experience is huge! He puts a stake on a positive attitude to people and can reprogram minds of his audience. This man started as an employee in a medium size publishing company in the states (He ignites, He speaks). Still, his natural gift for sales, his unique communicative style helped him to get a position of a director. The concepts and ideas of Robbins have inspired the most prominent people of the world; he has been a coach for presidents, famous athletes, businessmen and many others almighty of the modernity. In his book “Unlimited Power” (1984) Robbins makes an emphasis on the necessity to have a power over you and not over other people. The law of attraction has been propagated in numerous other studies, but a vision of Tony has been propagated into masses to the fullest extent. Rely on you and not on others; be responsible and positive, - on the one hand, these concepts may seem too simple, but Tony Robbins emphasizes that these are the leading principles for a future success: "Achievers tend to believe that no matter what happens, whether it´s good or bad, they created it. If they didn´t cause it by their physical actions, maybe they did by the level and tenor of their thoughts” (He ignites, He speaks). A power of our thoughts is immense and huge and this truthful concept is propagated by Robbins. In order to be saved from the mercy of circumstances, it is necessary to generate your inner energy and direct it on you life creation. A perfect conglomerate of positive ideas and attitudes would result in positive actions and, as a result, into a perfect reality creation. In other words, a phenomenon of Tony Robbins works as an accumulator of an inner energy of other people directing it from their inner worlds into reality. This man hides his secret in a consequential development of his motivational spread on the audience. He is a discoverer of a human soul. He does not intend to heal it, but he deals with it, like with dough: he mixes a cake of success from it. Tony Robbins uses NLP for reshaping human minds in humans’ favor. In spite of the fact that the majority of people don’t like brainwashing Toni’s performances before the audience are not boring and are positive. NLP is not represented as a science by him; Tony Robbins positions it as a door in the world of new possibilities. A reformation of our minds happens at two stages: be aware of responsibility for your actions and create an immense power of your thoughts. Toni’s Appearance It is interesting to look at Robbins appearance transformation between 90s and nowadays. I would like to note that in videos of 90s this man looks well-groomed and he is following appearance trends of 90s. Those times businessmen or successful people looked like him. Currently, he is more sportive, open and more attractive, supposedly. I think that with years, Robbins put a stake on his appearance. Maybe, this decision has been made after his success. He sees that the great masses of people are following him. Why not to tie them even closer not only by words, but also by his appearance? Robbins in 90s Robbins after 2000 Robbins enchants the audience by a fast talk A fast talk is often considered as a bad style of communication. Still, Tony Robbins is a perfect exception from this rule. This does not mean that Robbins is nervous; the audience is enchanted by his fast talk and follows every word. He is full of enthusiasm about every topic he presents to the audience. He is on the edge of a fast talker who is nervous and too enthusiastic talker. Robbins is in conversation His performances are represented in a conversational manner. It is a friendly chat with the audience. He is taking control over conversation, but the audience does not feel itself estranged from it. It is engaged to the fullest extent into every aspect of his speech. Robbins entertains the audience In his conversational manner, Tony Robbins wants to seem a close friend to the audience. His jokes seemed to be understandable and appealing for every one in the concert hall. The audience is amused and entertained; they are thankful for having a chance to feel easy and not oppressed by NLP postulates. The following video represents Toni’s easy-going amusing move, when he jumped off the stage and gave Al Gore a high-five! http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-5625548517080716077 Robbins shapes his speech carefully Though previously Robbins’ speech was described as a simplistic, in reality it has a definite structure. In the beginning of his speech he identifies a goal of his speech (2 minutes approximately). During his description of the topic, he uses examples from other people lives, his personal stories etc. In the end of his speech (after 18 minutes approximately) he starts concluding his speech. He keeps the audience on tenterhooks and pretends as if he is leaving the stage, but, finally stays. They do not want to let him go and want to listen to his speech till the end. Conclusion In the end of my personal reflection, I would like to make a paradoxical intention to give some advices to the excellent communicator. It is like looking for a needle in a haystack. Still, I would like to notice that after I have watched some videos with Tony, I would like to ask him if I could, “Hey guy, why do you swear?” A bad language distracted my attention from the focus point of his speeches. He does not know who watches his who and who is present among the audience. In any case, it is not allowed to introduce these words into public speeches. He is a professional speaker, why to spoil his reputation then? There are no doubts that Robbins is a mental and motivational Enlightener of the modernity. We should follow him and listen in order to improve and reach success. He has been working for us and we can reap the fruits of his professional development and perfection. Works cited 1.
