The Tyee Online Magazine is my favorite magazine; it focuses on indigenous societies’ leadership forms. Though the topic is not very popular, it is an effective aspect of social control, which defines leadership structures in the societal fabric. An example to this is political suppression, which involves persecution of a group or individual for political objectives, particularly in restricting their political life in society. Apart from politics, other topics featured in the magazine include life and culture of people of British Columbia.
This magazine targets leaders, individuals from indigenous societies and women as its audience. This is because it discusses issues dealing with leadership in indigenous societies, as well as marginalization of women in the leadership institutions. Overall, the magazine targets the entire population of British Colombia. This magazine presents distinctive articles because, for every story, there is an independent either cultural or political analysis depending on the topic. Additionally, it allows aggressive discussion by the readers with every story, which gives a platform for readers to evaluate and analyze the story based on their opinions and perceptions.
For the sake of user interaction, the magazine is structured into several sections that allow easy and quick access to information that the reader may be looking for. For example, it is divided into news, culture, opinion, mediacheck, national, and solutions. So if a reader wants stories concerning solutions to societal challenges such as environment, one just clicks on solutions and select a story. Further, the magazine has created a platform for comments where readers can give their opinion on every story. Finally, the stories are accompanied with pictures for better understanding and interaction.
The story I choose is titled For Kids, the Meal Is the Message. This story is remarkable because of the reaction it ignites from the audience, as well the presentation that uses humor to bring out reality and serious issue, which makes it interesting to read. Apart from the use of illustrations, the story refers to several sources and data to support the author’s argument, and this is what I would like to emulate in my writing. Another aspect is that the story addresses a specific audience while educating, informing, and giving solutions at the same time.

Spying and Privacy in American Society

...?Spying and Privacy in American Society Spying has become a central idea in American society since the terrorist attacks in September 2001, as the government has used this tragedy as means by which to increase the surveillance performed on all of its citizens. The Patriot Act, for example, takes away the rights of everyday Americans by making surveillance a part of everyday life. This is done under the guise of anti-terrorism, but the reality is that it gives the government the right to listen to our phone calls, intercept our emails and watch our every move, even if we have no ties to terrorism whatsoever. The lack of privacy in the United States is a direct violation of our freedom and needs to stop in order for the country to regain... and Privacy...

Just War Theory

...Just War Theory (JWT) is, essentially, a theory of moral obligations of armies in wartime, and therefore rests upon the assumption that militaries and states are equivalent to moral agents. Because morality is a prescribed set of conduct governing the rules of individual interactions within a social context, JWT applies the same kind of prescriptions and values to states and militaries that it does to individuals within their respective communities. Thus, in the world community, it is expected that when two entities go to war with each other, they will follow a set of ethical standards laid down within JWT. However, two problems arise when trying to justify the use of JWT in shaping the United States and allies’ strategies in Afghanistan... War Theory...
