Teacher First Part The reading was about photojournalism and in particular, about the circumstances surrounding a certain photographthat transforms a picture to a story. Photographs have the unique ability to represent external reality that authenticates evidence and identify truth and expose deception and it has been useful throughout history.
The reading made sense but I do not think that it is abreast with the times. I particularly chose the portion in the reading that mentions its ability to authenticate evidence and identify truth and expose deception because it is no longer the case. The advances in technology enable everyone who has simple knowledge in computer to tinker with images with simple application such as photoshop and Adobe Lightroom. Thus, photograph is no longer an agent of truth but rather can be used to deceive people.
I think that the most relevant question now is what is the new role of photojournalism given that photography’s can no longer be taken at its face value knowing that it can be tampered.

The news is about the advances of Isis, an Al-Qaida breakaway to Iraq’s western province. It already has captured two strategic towns including Euphrates and Fallujah. At present, civilians are signing up to protect Baghdad from the Sunni militants. This this is important because it shows the growing terrorism in Isis which are now emboldened to even capture cities and countries. Also, it adds conflict to the Middle East and looks like a sectarian bloodshed is looming. This news is relevant as well as troublesome because it shows how conflicted the world has become

...The six oclock news led off with a story about the upcoming Labor Day weekend, and about the weather that is expected. It showed different shots of people enjoying Labor Day festivities. The only detail that was provided during this segment was about the weather, nothing about the actual festivities. The next story was about a wildfire that was allegedly started by two illegal immigrants that were in distress, so built a fire to attract attention. ...Full A Reflection of Malaysian Leadership The announcement of the Malaysian Prime Minister, Najib Razak, about the ill-fated Boeing 777 was grievous for the families of the passengers which angered the Chinese government. He said that the search for the plane in the ocean southwest of Australia needed to be suspended because of rough waves, high winds and heavy rains. With more than 150 Chinese passengers, China showed its concern over her citizens and thus demanded the data from which the report was based. The announcement of the Prime Minister seemed inconsiderate. Knowing that loved ones have been waiting for news about their loved ones boarded on the plane, he should have known better and have been more prudent in...

...Word Count = 272 News Reading “Obama Touts High Healthcare Enrolment After Deadline” speaks of why Republicans do not support Obamacare while the President Obama declared the program a success. There are 7.5 million Americans now covered by a healthcare plan even as sign-up for the service has been plagued by and sign up problems. It is my opinion that under this new healthcare plan, the government has overstepped its jurisdiction when it comes to the health of the people. Mandatory healthcare coverage in the face of a yearly tax penalty is not the way to fix the healthcare system. Mainly because not everyone can afford to pay for healthcare every year. For as long as unemployment...

...are being issued warnings about the potential of danger near clubs and restaurants on Sunshine Coast. Mooloolaba is currently ranked sixth on a list of most dangerous Australian hot spots. “Yeah, we worry, really. There is blood in the streets. There are people being hurt and others being affected because these things are spilling into the streets and there is a ripple effect,” Sergeant Thomsen said. “It’s bad, mate, really bad.” One interview that I would suggest to strengthen this story would be one of an eye witness who saw the entire incident. To learn more about violence in the area, I would suggest talking to local owners of the clubs and restaurants to see more about what they think about the increase in...

...News Story Introduction A market for goods and services is mainly influenced by consumers’ willingness and ability to buy at a specific price and suppliers’ ability and willingness to supply at a given price (Martha, 1989). This forces can a times lead to disparity in terms of affordability and thus economic growth. Consumers’ ability and willingness to buy a good or a service at a given market is what is generally known as demand (Martha, 1989).
