This book reflects early childhood experiences and perceptions of the author towards fear, which formed when he observed his mother shoot his step-father (De Becker). Becker highlighted that notion of law enforcement and intended to save lives of several individuals. Also in this book, he utilized a threat assessment tool named as mosaic, which is used in criminal justice system throughout the world. He strongly believed that most of the criminal actions are accidental, but they still give explicit warnings to us so that we can keep ourselves protected from societal violence (De Becker).

“The Gift of Fear” helps readers identify the circumstances that can include a negative role or impact of stalkers, gender bias, abusers, live threatening conditions, frustrate workers, or serial killers. This book indicates signs of endurance, reliance on one’s perceptions, elements that help distinguish between real and imagined dangers and symptoms of violent behavior holders (De Becker). This book contains significant knowledge for men and women both. The author has creatively discussed that all individuals feel sometimes that they are being observed while walking alone and they stay lost in their own world until someone attacks, hurts or kills.

The author’s viewpoints in this book have taught its readers those approaches and ways, in which an individual should confront the threatening situation (Becker). Further, this book helps insight concepts related with domestic violence and its devastating impacts on cognitive development of children’s minds. The author underpins that when children observe domestic violence between their parents, they unable to help, and worthless in their own homes. Additionally, individuals at professional level also face hurdles context of violence or discrimination and this book provides approaches of tackling violent and aggressive situations at work places (De Becker).
