Interview with an Upcoming Designer Hello Winston, could you please introduce yourself? I am Australian by nationality. I am doing my Bachelors degree in fashion design. This has been my life-long dream, and I have worked hard along the way to the extent of getting a fashion design scholarship.
When do you hope to start designing?
Although it has been my passion to draw from my tender age, this will not come through until in six months time when I complete my degree.
I believe you would like to make designs that are specific to your taste. Could you describe in three words what your brands would be like?
Outstanding, original and unique
Are you interested in doing designs for both sexes or you have a specific fashion that you would like to focus on?
Through my schooling, I have come to love men’s clothes that get motivated by women’s design. My main focus therefore will be entirely menswear. However, this may not form my entire fashion career. At some point I hope to shift my interest to women clothes.
What is your collaboration dream? What has inspired you in fashion design?
Through my education, I have come to embrace the idea of collaboration among different fashion corporations. This puts a unique touch to your designs, in addition to a wider market exploration. In my career, I would like to collaborate with a shoe designer. I have come to love designs for such people like Frida Giannini and Mihara Yasuhiro
Do you have a piece of advice for the rest of upcoming designers?
Along my journey to becoming a designer, I have held this idea, “If you dont go after what you want, youll never have it. If you dont ask, the answer is always no. If you dont step forward, youre always in the same place (Rita and Klein 121)” Every person has only one chance to live. This gives reason why designers should not live in the shadows of their dream. They should come out and shape their future.

To be precise, I joined the industry back in 2010 though up to then I had not shown much interest in social work. I had to re-evaluate myself based on my earlier childhood hobbies. The immediate reason that informed my decision arose from the realization that people used to praise my art works such as sketches and drawings. It is then that I realized that there was something unique within me. Interest developed and I had a vision to start from scratch and never to imitate others so as to produce something unique. I observed other artist work within my reach, I became enthusiastic and I brainstormed to get my...

...Insert Introduction The two people being interviewed are from North Carolina and Kenya. They have migrated into California for some reasons. Going by the interview session, it is clear that the reasons for their migration into California underscore the reasons that James Rawls offers in his argument, A Place, A People, A Dream. The Kenyan immigrant came to California because his kinsmen live in this state. As such, it was easier for him to settle in California as his kinsman would provide him with all the support necessary for his work and stay in the United States. This still underscores Rawls’ statement since his kinsman or host opted for California for its opportunities and success. This is...
