The Information Requirements for a Hypothetical Information System IntroductionIn the previous phases, we have presented an overview of the system which we are going to develop for the shopping mall management. We have also presented a feasibility study report for this project. In this phase of the system development life cycle, we will present the information requirements for the shopping mall management system. In addition, these requirements will be classified into different categories and each category will demonstrate specific requirements.

Information Requirements A system is built on the basis of the requirements given by the customer(s). On the basis of these requirements, a firm decides to choose the implementation strategy. In addition, different systems have different requirements (Laudon & Laudon, 1999; Stair & Reynolds, 2003). This section outlines the system requirements for a shopping mall management system:User (business) RequirementsThe staff working at a shopping mall is one of the main users of the new shopping mall management system.

Thus, we need to keep their requirements at our top priority. Their requirements are outlined below:New shopping mall information system needs to offer enhanced security of customer information New shopping mall information system needs to offer greater security for corporate dealing and product informationA new system needs to offer an excellent support for management decision support A new system needs to offer better accessibility A new system needs to offer easy to use user interface A new system needs to offer greater usability for managing corporate operationsA new system needs to offer superior management of corporate operationsA new system needs to offer enhanced support for daily transaction handling A new system needs to offer superior support for staff CRM tasks A new system needs to offer enhanced management of supply chain management tasks Technical Requirements (Technology Acquisition)For the implementation of new shopping mall information system some of the technical requirements are outlined below:New Platform systems for sales persons New LAN network for communication and collaboration among staff New Routers for network connections Network Data servers Network internet servers Printers for printing receiptsPrinters for staff reports Workstations for staff data entry Warehouse systems for data inputNetwork collaboration systems for data management Staff communication arrangementsPersonal Computers for management teams Office applications for reports development OLPA systems for corporate decisions support Staff Training RequirementsTo make the implementation of this new information system a success we will need to fulfill some additional requirements.

In this scenario, some staff training will be required for learning and understanding the use of the new system.
