Also, various newer modes of career alternatives are coming up to the aspirants all across the globe. It is prudent to have a detailed analysis of the profession that one selects as career. The most important aspect that is to be understood is that if the attributes of the individuals gel in well with the needs of the jobs. As career is all about a life time decision and one is expected to have incur considerable expenses to get the best of the relevant education, therefore prior to choosing the option one must indulge in to a careful study of the career. The important attribute in this arena should be the characteristics and the features that the incumbent possesses. Also, other issues that need to be analysed before deciding the career should be pertaining to the preferred location and the acceptable office hours of the related careers. I have always wanted to have a job in a decent office as a human resource manager. But just being out of the degree college, that too without any prior work experience, does not land one to any managerial job. One has to start from the level of junior executive to reach the position of human resource manager in some point of time in his career. I am really happy for the reason that I could at least start with in my domain of preference and can now build up my career with sheer hard work, dedication and intelligence, which would surely lead me to human resource manager in the near future. SWOT Analysis The SWOT analysis is used to analyse externally what the career has to offer. It takes in to account the strengths and the weaknesses of the profession internally along with that of the external evaluation of threats and opportunities with similar professions prevailing in the industry. Strengths There are many strengths of the job of the human resource executive. The career of the human resource executive can be easily classified as the dignified one. The work profile of the job involves recruitment and selection. The job enables the executives to gather whole lot of experience as the work profile comprises of relentless communication with internal employees as well as external parties. With the career of the human resource executive, one gets the opportunity to represent the company or the organization. It gives real exposures as the human resource executives need to work upon the drawing the job descriptions, creating advertisements, verifying the application forms, reviewing and short listing of the applications, interviewing as well as selecting the right candidates for the right position with the right traits. It also gives clear indication of what the organizations are looking for and what the industry has in store as the talent pool. Weaknesses There are no such weaknesses of the chosen career of being human resource executive for me as I always wanted to be in the same career. One of the prime weaknesses in the career of the human resource executive is that it makes a person too critical. As in the profession, he strives to find the best combination of the people and the performance to attain optimum benefit; the attitude often gets in to one’s non – professional life too. Opportunities There are huge opportunities of the job involved with human resource department. Firstly, with the training that I receive and along with the exposure and the experience, I can expect to be promoted to my dream post of human resource manager. I get to know how the targets are calculated for the different levels of executives across different functions. The career in this field also has provided me with the exposure of understanding the training needs of the individuals those who fall short of the expected level of performance. Most importantly, the career of the human resource executive allows me to devise training strategies for those professionals and it helps me to learn wide array of technical and personal glitches that can happen to a person and affect one’s performance. Threats The career of the human resource executive comprises of certain threats too. As the job profile involves of having critical evaluation of the performance of the entire employee force of the organization, some unhappy executive can often turn to be hostile towards the human resource executive. Also, human resource departments act as the department in charge for strictly following the control mechanism. Therefore, being human resource executive, I need to be strict for utilizing organizational resources as they are scarce. This again makes considerable section of the employees unhappy with the executive responsible. Conclusion There is no doubt that the career of the human resource executive is dynamic as well a challenging. It is such a career that I wished to join in since my early college days and most importantly, my personal attributes and features also contribute towards such a job. I am sure that I will definitely make a mark in the near future in my career of choice. Bibliography Official Graduate Careers, No Date. Human resources officer. Human Resource and Employment.
