Designing a Training Program Overview of Training Program In the modern day business environment, there are various factors that directly influence operations of business. In order to maintain the competitive position of any business in the global environment, management of organizations needs to efficiently utilize their resources to get the desired result in terms of economy of scale and profitability within their operation. Moreover, the changing dynamics of the workplace has also influenced organizations to integrate the overall activities of the business in an efficient manner through building a proper workforce based on the level of competence of the employees. Consequently, the overall attitude and dedication of the employees along with its integration with the core objectives of the business is also important in ensuring the overall succession of the unit (Aguinis & Kraiger, 2009). Correspondingly, in this particular research focused would be levied on developing a training program for a group of 20 employees for a particular organization. In this process planning has been undertaken for providing training to 20 employees of the business in order to mitigate the prevailing issues of the workplace, which is highly required to make employees efficient in terms of their skills, abilities and dedication towards the work that they execute within the workplace. In this regard, it can be affirmed that appropriate training will be important in order to increases the capability of the 20 employees of the business especially towards attaining better operational performance along with dealing with the dynamics of the external environment. . Moreover, it has also been ascertained that training program will significantly assist these employees to reboot their skills and knowledge regarding the necessary roles and responsibilities that they will require to have to comply with the implementation of a new technology within the workplace. Besides, it is also the current organizational culture of the business that encourages the workforce to acquire the diversified skill in their respective task, which can be steered using appropriate training program (Aguinis & Kraiger, 2009). The training session has been carried out for two days with a formal procedure, which is deemed to be sufficient in developing specialization of knowledge for the employees. In this context, it has also been ascertained that the training secession will help the employees to develop soft skills and enhance their learning in the area of production and other operational related aspects. Moreover, method of production that the new technology has brought is also believed to have grown the competitive positioning of the business in the market, which further influences the people in the workplace to get a better knowledge of operating the same. Needs of Training It is quite important for any business to understand the need of training in order to determine the effectiveness of the training program. In this regard, proper analysis of the need and challenges of the employees with regard to comply with the production process after the implementation of a new technology in the workplace has been undertaken with the help of the tool of training need analysis (TNA). TNA has significantly assisted in determining the gap in the performance level of the workforce. Nevertheless, the assessment has revealed three important reasons for carrying out training program for the twenty employees of the organization, which has been depicted hereunder: It is expected that the introduction of new technology in the workplace will significantly influence the employees to improve their level of competence in the mode of operation. Thus they need to foster their skills, knowledge and expertise through proper training New technology will also escort the employees to develop technological capacities within them and their work process. Thus, it is important that the management of the business build the training program to promote the technological potentiality of the employees Correspondingly, based on TNA assessment it can be comprehended that the employees perceived the tradition technology of production to be less productive. Thus, prior to introduction of new technology employees needs to increase their understanding of the working mechanism with regard to the new technology for augmenting the overall productivity (Barbazette, 2005) Objectives of Training Training program is an important mechanism that assists the workforce to develop key skills to face the challenges of the workplace. In this regard, Viljoen et. al. Additionally, another major objective behind the development of training program were to increase or improve the necessary skills, ability as well as the self-confidence of the workforce to ensure efficiency in the production of goods and services. Besides, Yang (2010) affirmed that the key objective of undertaking training program is to reduce the challenges that employees deal with during the execution of their workplace activities. Thus, it is quite important for organization to introduce a continuous learning environment in the workplace for their employees through developing proper training program. In this regard, the objective that has been underlined for carrying out the two days training program in the organization for the 20 employees has been depicted below: Increasing the efficiency of the employees though building better level of confidence among the employees Reduce the possibility of any loss in the productive time through designing effective mechanism for the employees during training to reduce the possibilities of errors Motivating the employees towards the work through increasing their skills and knowledge base Attaining high level of job satisfaction Reduces the conflicts among the employees and enhance the flow of communication within the working groups Develop and enhance the overall morality of the employees Eradicate the issues related to high level of turnover and absenteeism of the employees (Buckley & Caple, 2009) Cost of Training Program Based on the above discussion, it quite apparent that introduction of new technology in the production will act as a significant aspect for the business towards maintaining the economy of scale and retain its competitive position in the marketplace. However, in order to derive the expected benefit and desired targets of the management, the approach of introduction of new technology in the production unit has been ensured. The training has been designed to improve the performance of the employees while using the new technology. In order to undertake and execute the training program, the organization has the need to organize series of activities through bearing all the necessary costs. Thus, it has been estimated that in order to carry out the overall training and development program for the two days training session for 20 employees. the business unit might need around USD 19,300. The breakdown for the overall cost structure of the training program has been provided hereunder: Activities Time Allotment Cost Selection of Trainer NA $ 4000 per day Increasing awareness through providing curriculum materials NA $50 per employees Transportation and lodging for trainer for two days NA $ 1000 per day Lecture 4 hr NA Case study analysis 10 hr $ 2000 Availing computer and other equipments needed for the employees $ 100 per employees Foods and beverages arrangement for trainer and trainee 2 hr $ 100 per head Total 16 hr $ 19300 Training Method Training method reflects the manner in which a particular training program has been carried out within or outside the organization in order to achieve the overall objective of the program. Moreover, the method undertaken for any particular training module is highly dependent on the needs and objectives of the training for the employees and the changes that business unit is planning to introduce in the workplace. As the business is planning to introduce new technology of production, which will impact the working structure and capabilities of 20 employees, improvement needs to be ensured in the skills and abilities of the employees through conducting a training program. Thus, the overall training program will be conducted by hiring a specialized trainer, having the advance knowledge regarding the new technology that has been implemented within the workplace. The trainer will derive understanding regarding the work mechanism of the machine through lecture; and case study analysis among others. This aspect has been described in detail hereunder. Lecture The training program will began through introduction of technology in the form of verbal communication with the employees through lecture. This will ensure providing similar information for 20 different employees at a time. Moreover, in order to attain the overall objective of the training module, lecture method is considered as the most effective method in terms of cost efficiency and other aspects that will ensure the program to provide a learning environment for the employees further enhancing their skills and abilities in a collective manner. (Virginia Commonwealth University, 2015). Besides, it is quite important for the employees to analyze and perform the work prior to implementing the technology in real practice. One of the major benefit of employees from this particular method is to get proper practical training is that it will enable employees to use real life situation during the training and provide practical experience of the approach they significantly acquire during the lecture rather than only having the theoretical knowledge, which is quite complicated to be pertain in the real practical situations of production (Virginia Commonwealth University, 2015). On the other hand, the mechanism of computer based training tool is a highly cost effective measure and hence expertise’s will be desired while using the same for the betterment employees further increasing the possibility of success for the overall training program (Virginia Commonwealth University, 2015).
