Unit 5 Discussion due: Before carrying out a research evaluation, it is important to factor outand consider challenges that may arise while reporting your findings to the general public. Researchers ought to respect the rights and dignity of human beings. Objectivity is key when undertaking research evaluations as they touch on the lives of unique audiences. The Institutional review boards formed to look into unethical research are mandated to ensure that organization are not only objective but follow the proper channels when collecting and evaluating data ( Royse et al. 2010; Khanlou & Peter, 2005).
In the case of Bedford Mountain parenting program one could debate that there might have been preconceived thoughts about the program’s success. In Maritza’s case, it is important for the funding agency to understand the purpose of the program. The findings in this case should be presented and explained clearly to the founder. According to Royse et al. (2010) this evaluation’s findings are intended for knowledge development. They are exempted from scrutiny by IRB (p.49). Despite this; it is good for the evaluator to share her plans with the nearest IRB for guidance. It is also crucial for the evaluator to review how others addressed this problem and apply ethical principles to the situation.
Maritza should consult with her supervisor on the evaluation and objectively discuss the way forward as the program collides with politics of funding and the need to be addressed. Maritza should not compromise on the findings but should present her findings in such a way that they capture the pros and cons of the program and give recommendations for it. This type of data ought to be shared with the funding agency and her immediate supervisor. Evaluators are urged not to be complacent even in the midst of political, financial or personal interest but maintain neutrality and exercise their ability to report accurate results.

...The Rebate Shell Game People love getting something for nothing and the lure of a rebate can seem like free money to many shoppers. Faced with the choice of a $30 item, or a $50 item with a $20 rebate, the unsuspecting consumer will often choose the more expensive item. It is human nature to believe that the $50 item is higher quality, even though they are actually paying the same price. Rebate offers may be good for the consumer, yet most seem to favor the manufacturer. They are a short-term business gain that increases ready cash, but may have negative effects on consumer brand loyalty and result in a loss of customers. In 2002, 70% of the notebook PCs sold were offered with a rebate and the concept seems simple enough (McGinn... Rebate...

...The National Debt, a Continuing Crisis If the National Debt of the United s cannot be described asa situation experiencing a crisis then little else can. At its greatest level in history, the current deficit provides the economy with a small boost, but if allowed to continue on its path of projected growth, deficits will eventually result in the lower standards of living caused by a sustained stagnation of the economy. Citizens will also be deprived of various government programs such as those targeted at the economically disadvantaged – a state many more people will experience if the current trend is not reversed.
