Most interestingly is the way their success shaped ideological spread and put US on checks over certain important decision that affected the whole world. Following Russian success to develop their nuclear power, it is important to address the rivalry that ensued between them and the US throughout the period of Cold War stretching from 1941 to 1991. Because of the possession of the nuclear weapon, the two countries became rivalries in every aspect, the fear of one another then became apparent, and they avoided direct military combat, but disguised it in their allies whom they supported economically and through reinforcement using their military personnel.

Therefore, Russia is a unique country in its own way regarding the development and possession of nuclear that it has to be researched to understand the intrigues that took place in their endeavors to have nuclear power. This paper will look at nuclear Power in Russia in several aspects as will be discussed below, Russia, as it is always known, is one of the two countries a part from US that emerged to be super powers just after the end of World War II. . It is also necessary to know how this rivalry with the US accentuated beliefs of the Russians to institute nuclear power weapon, in this relation, this paper will seek to understand the inception of nuclear power into the country, and how it progressed over time and the consequences that have been realized following the adoption of the weapon.

Through an extended approach, the ramifications will be looked in context of USSR disintegration, could it have also facilitated the disintegration of the former powerful Union of Soviet Socialist Republic, USSR? Policies Related to Nuclear Weapon in Russia Even though there has existed a period of intense rivalry between US and Russia over nuclear weapon, Russia has developed several policies to ensure that there is safe use of the weapon and that it should not be used as a means of intimidation or high handedness in any manner.

Russia remains one of the few countries that first ratified the Nuclear Weapons Treaties; it has also remained submissive to all those treaties that inhibit proliferation and disarmament program. The policies of nuclear power in Russia roots for safe exercise of the privilege and that no harm should be inflicted by those countries that possesses nuclear power (Kanet 22). This is evidenced in the manner, which they handled the intense period of Cold War that engulfed the world for almost more than half a century when most of the pessimist thought that they invoke the use of nuclear weapon against US.

Nuclear weapon in Russia was not developed for military use as today manifested by certain countries that have acquired the weapon thus becoming contemptuous and keeps on threatening using the weapon in the slightest provocation. There is a clear
