Bullying is not as simple as cracking jokes at the expense of other classmates but as extreme as forcing the weaker ones to take off their clothes infront of everyone. This action causes many students worldwide to become scared, shocked, low in confidence and eventually depressed(Peterson,2006).There have been cases where students have suffered chronic depression and even tried suicide just to get over that one person or a group of bullies whom they can netither stop nor face anymore.A moderate and practical policy is a must for the schools worldwide to implement to stop those bullies who put someones life at a hold just to have a good time laughing.
These policies should be part of the federal legislation so they can be implemented the same way within all states. One of the main causes of bullying is that the bully can be in a bad home environment maybe being physically or verbally abused at home gradually building anger and sadness inside him. Therefore he tries to find a way to take it out on people who he knows won't stand up to him. This is why the bully will mostly pick on the quiet people who appear to have low self esteem. He will realize to himself that the feeling of being humiliated, threatened or disrespected is the worst one but he will still do it as the belief of taking revenge is heavier although it wont help the problem itself.
The bully is in a denial stage as he doesnt open his mind in finding better things in life to make it useful in a way(Pollastri,2010).The strict policies on bullying set by the schools are non practical as they do not eradicate the problem but restrict it temporarily, plus there are always loopholes to avoid getting caught. This problem is further intensified by the fact that most teachers and parents do not pay attention to such problems if not properly briefed about(which in most cases they're not).
The best solution at offer from their side is to ignore it as they are unaware of the fact that the psychological effects of bullying can be chronic in nature. The solution lies in destroying the source which is the violent and unacceptable nature of the bully. The teachers should basically try to identify the students who have a rude and harsh behaviour and understand the nature of their problem. After identifying the problem the teachers should counsell the student along with consent of the parents to openly discuss about the problems in life if they've never been.
If not the teachers, schools should hire counselors and make it necessary for every student to pay a visit every week to conduct discussions about academics and social life too(a way to identify problem areas). The effect of this implementation shall be a very positive one because dicussing ones unconcious mind is very important as some people dont even think about the reasons of their actions. The bully can be a person who has been deprived of importance and love or maybe someone from an atmosphere where he just got to see violence and hatred all the time.
People who have been deprived by their parents during childhood develop a totally new personality infront of other people (Herrenkohl,2007).They become too insecure to discuss the problems they dont even like to think about so these go to the unconcious section of the brain and therefore are not thought out for a solution.A teacher can build a bridge between the student and his parents if thats the case or
