The issue of delays has not been understood properly and the methods to avoid delays have not been yet accepted, thus leading to capital losses and a rise in litigation cases. When such time-related conflicts come into the picture, both parties try to impose their losses through claims against the other party.

Since time can be justified as money for this industry, to finish projects on time, and avoid delays, it is necessary that effective project scheduling is executed and benchmarks are set up for both parties. Delays and time extensions are the main issues of concern and this situation is expected to worsen if any steps are not taken to improve the situation and acknowledge the importance of project scheduling to timely avoid delays.
1.2 Aim and Objectives of the Study

This paper was aimed at studying the importance and existing trend of Project Scheduling in the construction industry along with a strong emphasis on why a properly statuses project schedule is an important tool when claiming a schedule adjustment. and the delay analysis and claim processes involved. The objectives have been identified as follows:

a) To identify the different types of project scheduling methods available within the industry
b) To identify the different categories of Delay occurring in the construction projects and how to measure delays with and without schedules.
c) To study the process of claim management in construction projects and how the delay damages are assessed in the industry.
d) To study two cases in the construction industry that stresses the importance of maintaining a proper statuses schedule of effective project scheduling on the part of both the involved parties and allotment of time extensions or compensation in case of delays.

1.3 Research Methodology

This study involved a wide-ranging review of the subject of Project Scheduling and Delay management in the construction industry. The study was carried on with the help of published content on the subject, online books, journals, articles, seminar papers, and websites related to the construction industry. Also, case studies were studied relevant to the topic to emphasize the significance of the issue discussed here. ok
