Extract of sample "Illegal Immigration"

Illegal Immigration Illegal immigration has been a controversial issue in the history of the US, there being different sides of the same coin. Statistics indicate there are over 12 million illegal immigrants in the US. The question that arises is whether 12 million illegal immigrants should be allowed to live in the US. While some feel that they should be pushed out of the country, others feel that they should be provided with the potential to become equal citizens with same rights as the Americans. Evidently, illegal immigrants are the result of the growing increase in crime in the US and the spread of contagious diseases. In my own view, the negative effects of illegal migration come because the government has neglected this lot, making them resort to crime. Therefore, the government should find strategies to settle illegal immigrants to help them out of destitute and hence prevent crime. The main purpose of my research was to find credible information that provides information on the real nature of the problem of immigration in the society and the various approaches that can be used to settle the problem. In an article by geek Politics (1), the author describes illegal immigration as a major problem in the society that the government should focus on. The author agrees that illegal immigration is linked to crime and increase in slums within the society. He talked about the two ways to solve the immigration problem and how to solve them in the right way. It’s always a good idea to have a solution for everything. Even for a big problem that affect a huge country like U.S. the author gives a simple solution that the government can go with it. America as a country was completely built on immigrants. There is nothing wrong with the idea of immigration. In addition, everybody should be treated equally and everybody got what they deserve. I tend to agree with the idea of the author on solving the problem of immigration by empowering the immigrants to become active citizens. Another important source of information I came across that portrayed the dark side of illegal migration is the “dark side of illegal migration” which speaks about the issues that arise when illegal immigrants land into the country. He majorly covered the diseases and pathogens, and a plethora of others that are not endemic to the US, are being brought in by unscreened illegal aliens who then spread them to an unsuspecting population. These diseases will give you something to think about the next time you are eating at a restaurant with the grunt work being done by illegal aliens who didnt have medical screening before preparing and handling your food. This was a new dimension of the problem that had not crossed my mind. I came to think about the problem more seriously and almost changed my mind about the issue. This sent me thinking that although it is crucial to support the immigrants, it is crucial to prevent illegal entry into the US as this may be a cause of a big problem to the other US citizens. The Judicial Watch (1) provided another negative impact of the problem of illegal immigrations. The article “Illegal Immigrant Gangs Commit Most crime in US” shows that most if the illegal immigrants indulge in crime as they seek survival in the harsh living conditions. However, in this article, the author mentioned that most of the illegal immigrations work with the mafia and most of them are drugs dealers. Also, most of the illegal immigrants are dingoes and they are acceptable to kill or anything illegal. They will do anything to live, why not? They don’t have any place to stay or food to eat. And that is because of their illegal papers. And illegal people who are hungry will do whatever thing to live. And that make this situation worse because the country will face a huge number of criminal and rape by illegal immigrant. Thinking critically, it is clear that the Mafia take advantage of the poor immigrants to perpetrate crime in the country. Therefore, if the government can support these minorities of the society, it would be possible to control the negative effects of illegal immigrations. It was interesting to learn that there is great support for the idea that illegal immigrant should be rehabilitated to ensure that they have the opportunity to change and stay b away from crime. Gibson (11) provides the idea that it is crucial for the government to take control of the problem as a matter of emergency by helping the immigrants and preventing further flow of the immigrants into the country. The author said that we must take back this country. If not, future generations of Americans will reside in a Third World nation, and it will be a mirror image of Mexico. The Mexican border could and should be made a permanent duty station. This would allow the Border Patrol to full staff the official entry checkpoints which would greatly reduce the amount of drugs and criminals coming into this country. I completely agree with the idea of the author that this controlling the boarders is a necessary measure that would prevent the development of the problem. Since it is hard to make the immigrants leave, it would be worthwhile to support them and allow them to acquire citizenship and live just like any other American in the state. After reading the article, I noted the seriousness of the problem especially the way poverty can slowly encroach into America through this process of illegal immigration. Therefore, I feel that the government needs to be prompt on the issue before it gets out of hand. However, I noted those who provide a counter argument and stand firm against the idea of support illegal immigrants. The article by geek politics (1) “Illegal Immigration problems and Solutions” states that the immigrants contribute to more loss than profit to the state. First, they cannot relieve the economy if they do not pay taxes, if they don’t have insurances and if they are causing a lot of diseases. In addition, according to the article “Illegal Alien Crime and Statistics,” the author asserted that 9000 deaths per year caused by them and it more than what the war in Iraq. On this note, it shows that clearly that these groups of people are harmful to the country’s economy. Therefore, the author argues that “The only habits to fix this are to make them leave”. However, the author seems to ignore the logistics that would be used in making the immigrant to leave. I feel that a more realistic approach to solve the problem is make them legal citizens so that they can contribute to the economy and prevent further flow of the immigrants into the country. This way the government would satisfy the human rights of equality and reduce the negative effects of the already present immigrants. In conclusion, I learnt that control of illegal immigration in US and provision of equal rights for the immigrants would be a solution to the negative impact of this problem. It is clear that the US crime rate and spread of diseases is a problem that links with the inflow of millions of illegal immigrants. In addition, this group does not support the economy as they do not pay tax or even form part of the labour force. On this note, it is crucial to make this group useful by providing them with equal rights and giving them the support to become full citizens. This will help to control crime and allow them to contribute to the growth of the economy. To control this inflow, the government should institute tough boundary rules to prevent more immigrants. Although some authors seem to provide a different idea that they should be made to leave, I feel that it would be a complex process that would go against the human rights. Therefore, it is crucial for the government to solve the problem urgently without going against the rights of the people. Works Cited Gibson, Dave.
