Parenting Styles in the Film ‘Tree of Life’ Parenting styles have a great impact on the lives of children. This is because the children develop their behavior and characters from the actions of their parents. In the film ‘Tree of Life’, the actor, Brad Pitt, talks about his children, especially their behavior. He also talks about his parenting style and the effects it has on the children. The actor says that it is through his parents that he learnt some features of his parenting style.
The actor believes that his parents exercised the authoritarian style of parenting. This is because they brought him up in a Christian environment where it is necessary to follow all the rules. The environment was conducive because a child could develop morally and have good character. The only concern is that parental control terminates once the children grow and gain freedom (Kathleen, p. 20). In addition, once they get their freedom, they experiment all the activities that were initially restricted.
However, the actor decided to have a different parenting style from that of his parents. He practices an authoritative parenting style where he disciplines his children regularly. He takes his time to listen to the concerns of the children before making a decision on their fate. This means that parents should not abuse their children due to minor mistakes before giving them a chance to express the cause of their actions (Kathleen, p. 21). Moreover, parents should never neglect their kids because they could isolate themselves from their families.

... Critical Film Analysis of “Before Sunset” In the filming of “Before Sunset”, director Richard Linklater must have had a great deal of thought and delicate position on choosing where to designate scenes in which the principal characters, Jesse and Celine, merely took on the task of talking and walking all throughout the film’s length. Perspective and angle appear herein to be vital physical elements in the endeavour of making the film exude its original style and unique content since it could be chiefly felt to have served the interest of viewers who relish the art of intellect and sensibility.
