Unit Peking duck In my life, I consider eating to be what keeps us moving. I enjoyed eating, not because ofany other reason, but as a way of appreciating the far, my family has come. We never cooked at home because we were the biggest gourmets known worldwide. People came to know us the Peking duck eaters. We became addicted to the food just like the drunkard man with his alcohol. If statistics were taken, we were sure of becoming the leading Peking duck eaters. If eating Peking ducks could be declared as illegal, we could be the first criminals to violate the law. China is the place where I was born at a place called Beijing. I grew in a family where eating is the most important task. We had a belief that, by eating, we get to live well. My family was a middle class one. We only became rich when I joined middle school. My father chose to appreciate the fact of getting rich by tasting every cuisine. He became the biggest gourmet worldwide. We also chose to join him as gourmets. My dad was never a duck eater because he was the origin of south china where they do not eat duck. Surprisingly, he has a passion for Peking duck just like my mother and I. The problem of eating Peking duck is that we could not have it cooked at home. We had to travel so to have it cooked. We marked the best and famous restaurant where we could have our Peking duck cooked. Quanjude is the restaurant we liked most. Travelling to this restaurant was another challenge of its own. Beijing being a huge city is affected by bad traffic. Often, we stayed for long hours at the traffic jam before reaching the restaurant. We had every reason of eating Peking duck more than the reasons we had for our lives. We had a belief that all cuisines have their own different stories. We had the great pleasure of having a delicious meal together as a family. Peking duck has been found to be the main cuisine on the menus of The Imperial Court. This dish inspired poets and the poems. As we can discover in the collection of the poems, the verse of Duan Zhu ZhiCi mentioned of roasted duck. Pecking duck became the symbol of China in the mid-20th century. Many tourists and diplomats showed great interest of Peking duck making it famous among the people in China (McMeel 5). Peking ducks have been served severally during meals in the big meetings of the famous people between the Chinese. With this great history, am happy that Peking duck is my favorite dish. If I can get the stereotyping part of this story, I am tempted to believe I can also be famous by eating Peking duck. I chose Peking duck as my favorite because cooking it is easy and does not take a long time as compared to other meals. Peking duck can be cooked traditionally but also the chefs have their own recipes. Quanjude restaurant is known for providing the best services. This restaurant serves their customers the way they will be pleased. What I am confident about Peking duck is that it can be served with other types of food. Peking duck is just as flexible meal as my life. This is an important reason why I consider Peking duck as my partner. It is served with steamed pancakes, spring onions, and sweet bean sauce. The advantage of serving Peking duck is that the whole duck is served as thin, well cut-slices, which are easy for consumption. There are varieties of vegetable provided to accompany the meat. In my family, we were interested in the takeaways more than eating at the restaurant. Not forgetting we were gourmets, we appreciated eating together at home rather than at the restaurant. The interesting thing about Peking duck is that it can undergo reheating especially when one is interested in takeaways. Peking duck is such a delicious meal that can be reheated even at home with an oven, boiling oil or grill. This made life easier specifically to my family because we never cooked at home. There is high demand for this dish because it is a delicacy. Quanjude chefs ensure that they cut the duck into similar shapes that are attractive to the one consuming it. The sweetness of this dish is not changeable despite the daily or frequent consumption we had as a family. We had the same flavor of Peking duck because we enjoyed eating as a family. The positive attitude we had always kept our appetite at a rising rate. The myths surrounding Peking duck encouraged our consumption. Some people believe that eating Peking duck has a high chance of reducing heart attacks. Other people claim that it is good for brain development. Although we had no evidence to justify or criticize these claims, we continued consuming Peking duck. When one becomes a gourmet, nothing can alter the liking of the dish. That is why my family maintained its title as the best consumers of Peking duck. I have certainty that there are several benefits of consuming Peking duck. Watching the way a chef present the food, made me swear to be a faithful fan of my favorite. I get tempted to talk highly of these chefs whenever am with my colleagues. They predict what am about to say whenever I mention Quanjude. They have developed interest too for Peking duck. We never miss going to Quanjude for Peking duck. Whenever we cannot afford to take the whole Peking duck, we bought some bones to take them home. These bones are useful for making aromatic soup and noodle dishes. These leftovers are important for diners like me who are addicted of Peking duck. Besides, leftovers are less costly as compared to acquiring the whole Peking duck. Sometimes I tossed in my bed waiting for dawn to break. I keep checking on the clock hoping it is already early hours of the morning so I can go for my favorite food. Every time I say a prayer, I involve the issue of Peking ducks. I sounded crazy, but that is how I could show my love to my favorite food. I know how much I became a fanatic to this food, but I never stop to treasure it. I never want to imagine one day I would be informed that Peking ducks are not edible, or ducks have endangered. This alone might cause a heart attack to me. Therefore, such news is unwelcome in my life. I refused to listen to any negative discussion of my colleagues concerning Peking duck. They have discovered this, and at times, they use this to provoke me to test my faith and love of Peking ducks. The liking for Peking duck has given me the inspiration to approach every single experience within my time in college positively. I appreciate myself for the fact that I am a determined person hoping to be successful in the future. My biggest dream is to establish the biggest restaurant where people will be joyful, especially for the best service. I am motivated that I will achieve the desire of my parents hoping for my success. Inasmuch as I have other hopes for my future, I owe my gratitude to my physical strength that has improved due to the consumption of Peking duck. I am making a mistake if I fail to mention that Peking duck is such a nutritious meal. It has made me a healthy individual that I am today. Today I stand to celebrate my victory at sports due to the nutritious Peking duck. I won the lawn tennis game held in 2008, and this is the reason why I owe a lot to Peking duck. My academic results have been increased fairly. I promise to make Peking duck famous among my friends, and my love will remain unchanged by any circumstance. I will always live to tell the love I have for my childhood favorite dish Reference McMeel, Andrews, 1001 Foods to Die for. Kansas City, Mo. 2007. Print. Read More
