Better Writing How I make myself comfortable in a Writing Assignments and the Manner in which I effectively Deal with any Potential Discomfort In the event that I am faced with a writing assignment, I always try to make an assessment of exactly how long it would probably take me to complete the assignment. This not only allow me to allocate enough time to the assignment, but also to not waste any time by setting an appropriate schedule to all my assignments. I always try to never procrastinate any of my assignments and tasks as this can result in my experiencing a number of stressful situations as I try to complete late assignments in a rush.
In an effort to try and completely concentrate on my writing assignments, I always try to remove all possible sources of potential distraction from my environment. This normally includes shutting down my cell phone and computer while working on the assignment as well as turning down the television. I also try to work from the library as it provides a highly conducive environment that if find to be free from any distractions and always aids me in providing extremely high quality work. One of my primary discomforts in working on writing assignments pertains to the proper allocation of time to all my various assignments, In respect to this, I always try to plan out my work in an effective manner by scheduling myself to first work on assignments that have a shorter time frame as opposed to working on those that happen to have a longer time frame.
However I am always careful not to in anyway postpone these longer time frame assignments to the very last possible minute and always allow myself enough time to work on them. The Differences between Revision, Proofreading and Editing In writing, there happens to exist a marked difference between each of these activities as tackling them is seen to generally involve a number of different approaches. Writing can generally be perceived to be a process whereby one essentially moves from different stages and revisions are deemed as helping in guiding the process in moving from one key stage to the next one.
Revisions are generally seen to involve a general re-writing and reworking of a given assignment are not regarded to merely just be the changing of a few key words, taking out unnecessary material or even adding a few sentences across a given document. Revising a paper generally involves a restructuring of the entire paper, while taking care to remove any unnecessary information details, moving and adding paragraphs and sentences, re-writing some of the sentences, proofreading the entire document and undertaking a double checking of the paper’s supporting evidence.
In contrast to conducting a revision on an assignment, editing and proofreading processes are generally seen to not be as involving as revisions. Editing is undertaken immediately after one finishes working on the fast draft of the paper and involves the rereading of the draft copy, and checking to see if the paper is appropriately organized, the transitions from a given paragraph to the next are smooth and if the evidence presented in the paper essentially serves to properly back up its arguments (Osmond 188).
Proof reading is usually the last sate in a given writing process and its primarily focuses on amending some of the surface errors that might potentially have been overlooked such as grammatical and spelling mistakes. It also involves correcting any punctuation errors in the paper. Proofreading should only be conducted as a final step once one has completed working on the other editing revisions (Osmond 188).
